Kell Brook Enters as Odds-On Favorite
When it comes to the latest betting odds, BetOnline Sportsbook is currently listing Kell Brook as the -174 favorite ahead of Saturday. Meanwhile, Amir Khan is sitting as the +136 underdog.
Amir Khan vs. Kell Brook Odds
- Kell Brook -174 (63.5% implied probability)
- Amir Khan +136 (42.4% implied probability)
At the age of 35, Brook has had a fairly decorated boxing career. He's held pretty much every championship he’s been eligible for all while amassing an impressive 39-3-0 recording — which includes 27 career knockouts. However, it’s clear that he’s beginning to slow down after having lost three of his last six fights. Brook’s most recent match came when he challenged Terence Crawford for the WBO Welterweight title in November 2020, resulting in a fourth-round TKO loss for the former. Needless to say, it’ll be interesting to see how he responds to the loss.
Meanwhile, Khan has achieved his own fair share of accolades over the years. From the countless championships to his Olympic silver medal and everything in between, it’s clear that he’s one of the best boxers that the United Kingdom has ever had. We haven’t seen him fight since he knocked out Billy Dib to win the vacant WBC International Welterweight Championship in July 2019. Considering how that was nearly three years ago, fans are understandably excited to see if he can upset Brook.
Even though this is the first time that the two British boxing icons are colliding, their rivalry has existed for well over a decade. The two sides legitimately hate one another and it’s clear that this fight isn’t for the fans’ entertainment or the spotlight: it’s to find out who’s truly the better boxer.
What to Expect from Khan vs. Brook
Fans who are hoping for the prime versions of Amir Khan and Kell Brook could be left disappointed. Both boxers are in the backends of their respective careers and have lost a step, judging by their most recent outings. That isn’t to say that it won’t be an entertaining main event, but expectations should be lowered to avoid disappointment.
With that being said, the unexpectedness of sports is why fans love watching them. While we don’t know exactly what will unfold come Saturday, BetOnline Sportsbook’s odds give us a better idea of what’s expected.
As of February 16, BetOnline Sportsbook is listing a Brook KO/TKO win as the most likely method of victory at +125 odds. That makes sense considering how Khan has been knocked out twice in his last five fights.
When it comes to when the fight will end, Brook has +1700 odds to win in Round 5 and +1800 to win in Round 6, Round 7, or Round 8. Three of his last four fights have ended before the eighth round, while the same can be said for Khan. Taking that into account, it wouldn’t be surprising if the fight doesn’t go the distance.
Kell Brook vs. Amir Khan Prediction & Pick
While there isn’t a heavy favorite in this clash, it’s clear that most signs point to a Kell Brook victory. Having said that, there isn’t too much value when it comes to picking him as the -174 moneyline favorite.
Instead, the smarter option is to get some plus-money action by backing him to win by KO/TKO at +125 odds. Brook has made it clear that he wants to defeat Khan to earn his respect and what better way to do that than by knocking him out? Combine that desire with the fact that Brook has the better power of the two and a knockout victory looks quite possible.
Amir Khan vs Kell Brook Pick: Brook wins via KO/TKO (+125)
