CFL Week 4 Predictions and Picks
BC Lions vs. Ottawa RedBlacks Betting Odds and Prediction
- Spread: BC Lions -2.5 (-110), Ottawa RedBlacks +2.5 (-110)
- Total: OVER 47.5 (-115), UNDER 45.5 (-105)
- Moneyline: BC Lions -136, Ottawa RedBlacks +116
Odds are via BetOnline Sportsbook.
The BC Lions improved their record to 2-0 on the year with a dominant 44-3 win over the Toronto Argonauts in Week 3. No other team has come close to matching the Lions offense, which is averaging a whopping 51.5 points per game to begin the year. It’s certainly a small sample size, but it proves that BC can stand toe-to-toe with anyone.
On the other hand, the RedBlacks haven’t been able to find a win this year. They’re coming off a bye week after beginning the 2022 CFL season 0-2, so they must parlay that rest into a strong start on Thursday. Still, stopping the Lions won’t be easy, especially with Ottawa’s defense not having shown any reason to believe in them this year.
Though Ottawa is only one game out of the East Division lead, the Lions might still be too tough of an opponent.
Prediction: Lions 27, RedBlacks 15
Best Bet: Lions -2.5 (-110)
Edmonton Elks vs. Hamilton Tiger-Cats Betting Odds and Prediction
- Spread: Edmonton Elks +6.5 (-110), Hamilton Tiger-Cats -6.5 (-110)
- Total: OVER 46.5 (-105), UNDER 46.5 (-115)
- Moneyline: Edmonton Elks +260, Hamilton Tiger-Cats -330
Odds are via BetOnline Sportsbook.
The Elks have been the worst team in the CFL this season and it hasn’t been close. Edmonton is now 0-3 after losing, 30-23, to the Stampeders last week and are allowing 38.3 points per game — worst in the league. The Elks have been improving slowly with each passing week, however, it doesn’t look like they’re ready to beat the 2021 Grey Cup finalists.
Speaking of which, the Tiger-Cats are looking to rebound after last week’s loss to the Blue Bombers. Quarterback Dane Evans struggled, finishing with just 237 passing yards and two interceptions without a touchdown, so he must be better. The Elks give up 10.2 passing yards per completion, opening up the door for an Evans bounce-back game.
Make no mistake about it: there’s a reason why the Tiger-Cats are heavy favorites here.
Prediction: Tiger-Cats 32, Elks 20
Best Bet: Tiger-Cats -6.5 (-110)
Montreal Alouettes vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders Betting Odds and Prediction
- Spread: Montreal Alouettes +3.5 (-105), Saskatchewan Roughriders -3.5 (-115)
- Total: OVER 46.5 (-110), UNDER 46.5 (-110)
- Moneyline: Montreal Alouettes +172, Saskatchewan Roughriders -205
Odds are via BetOnline Sportsbook.
After back-to-back losses the open the 2022 CFL campaign, the Alouettes finally tasted victory when they blew out Roughriders last week, 37-13, in Montreal. It was an all-around team effort by the Als led by kicker David Cote, who was five-for-five on field-goal attempts.
Meanwhile, the Roughriders are going to do what they can to forget that last week’s game even happened. Saskatchewan was forced to use two quarterbacks after Mason Fine replaced starter Cody Fajardo following the latter throwing a pair of interceptions. If the Roughriders can get more reliable play under center, this week’s game shouldn’t be as ugly.
Having said that, I think the Alouettes can pull off an upset victory if they can get off to the right start.
Prediction: Alouettes 25, Roughriders 22
Best Bet: Alouettes ML (+172)
Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs. Toronto Argonauts Betting Odds and Prediction
- Spread: Winnipeg Blue Bombers -4.5 (-110), Toronto Argonauts +4.5 (-110)
- Total: OVER 42.5 (-115), UNDER 42.5 (-105)
- Moneyline: Winnipeg Blue Bombers -220, Toronto Argonauts +180
Odds are via BetOnline Sportsbook.
The Blue Bombers are one of two 3-0 teams to begin the 2022 CFL season. Last week’s victory over the Tiger-Cats cemented their dominance. The defending Grey Cup champions are showing no signs of slowing down. They held the Tiger-Cats to six or fewer points in each quarter last week and it’ll be interesting to see if their defense can repeat that success in Toronto.
The Argonauts are currently leading the East Division, however, their only 1-1 on the year. They were absolutely embarrassed, 44-3, by the Lions last week, leaving little reason to have much faith in them this time around.
Unless the Argonauts look like a completely different team, a Blue Bombers victory is the likeliest scenario.
Prediction: Blue Bombers 31, Argonauts 14
Best Bet: Blue Bombers -4.5 (-110)
