Founded by Jack Nickauls in 1976, the tournament is held annually at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. The course is approximately 7,392 yards long with par being set at 72.

Patrick Cantlay won the 2021 edition of the event, marking his second time taking home those honors. Whether he wins it again this week is anyone’s guess, but one has to assume he’ll be one of the top picks.

Best Bets for the 2022 Memorial Tournament

Jon Rahm (+1100)

Jon Rahm is usually a threat to win any event that he enters and the 2022 Memorial Tournament should be no different.

The Spanish phenom has been one of the most consistent golfers on the 2022 PGA TOUR, making the top 25 in eight of the 12 events he’s entered. Five of those eight finishes saw Rahm land inside of the top 10.

Placing T-48 at the PGA Championship was far from ideal, but Rahm had won the Mexico Open just before that. He also has two other top-three finishes this season, making it easy to see why his odds are as good as they are.

Rahm also has the advantage of being one of the returning Memorial Tournament champions, having won it all when he finished three strokes ahead of Ryan Palmer in 2020. Considering how that was only two years ago, it’s safe to say that he should continue being competitive.

It’s also a smart idea to go with a former tournament winner any given week, which is why two-time Memorial Tournament champion Patrick Cantlay is a great pick at +1700.

Other than defeating Collin Morikawa in a playoff last year, Cantlay also won the Memorial in 2019 when he finished two strokes ahead of Adam Scott. Tiger Woods and Hale Irwin are the only other golfers to have won the tournament twice in three years, which goes to show that Cantlay is in exclusive company.

Additionally, Cantlay also has placed fourth in 2019, giving himself an impressive run over the last few years.

The good news is that the 30-year-old has a good chance of continuing that trend at the 2022 Memorial Tournament due to recent success on the current PGA TOUR.

Although he failed to make the cut at the PGA Championship, Cantlay placed second at the RBC Heritage before winning the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Assuming his PGA Championship performance was an anomaly, Cantlay has a great chance at getting back on track by winning in Dublin.

Matsuyama also has a solid Memorial Tournament history that includes winning the event in his 2014 debut. He’s placed 13th or better in three of his last seven appearances, which includes placing T-5 and T-6.

The 30-year-old seems to be playing so impressive golf as of late, which is why bettors should consider taking him for a top-5 finish in Dublin this week.

Bryson DeChambeau Top 20 (+310)

Bryson DeChambeau has been out of action since April after undergoing wrist surgery. However, the 28-year-old nearly played at the PGA Championship and has hinted at being a 2022 Memorial Tournament entrant by saying “It’s time” on an Instagram post that also tagged the event’s account.

Fans shouldn’t expect a vintage DeChambeau performance right out of the gate, but the 28-year-old is talented enough to shock some people with a top-20 finish.

DeCambeau won a three-way playoff in 2018 to capture the Memorial title for the first time in his career. While he hasn’t come close to winning it since then, he did place T-22 in 2019 and T-18 in 2021.

It’s hard to find more competitive golfers than DeChambeau, which is why it can be assumed that he’ll be looking to make an impact if he can play this week. He knows the Muirfield Village Golf Club well, which is why he’s a good bet for a top-20 2022 Memorial Tournament finish.
