The golfing world is buzzing because the third major tournament of the year is finally here: the 2022 U.S. Open, which is being held at the Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts from Thursday, June 16 to Sunday, June 19.
It’s the first time that the event is taking place in Brookline since it was last held at the Country Club in 1988. It’s a 7,264-yard course where par is set to 70.
Jon Rahm impressed the crowd last year by winning his first-ever U.S. Open title, finishing one stroke ahead of Louis Oosthuizen at Torrey Pines to secure the victory. Only a handful of golfers have won the event in back-to-back years, leaving time to tell if Rahm can join the history books.
Here’s a look at the latest 2022 U.S. Open betting odds from BetOnline Sportsbook, along with the best bets that you can make heading into the event.

Best Bets for the 2022 U.S. Open
Rory McIlroy (+1000)
Going with a former champion can yield some pretty solid results, which is why taking Rory McIlroy at +1000 to win the 2022 U.S. Open is one of the best bets you can make.
The 33-year-old veteran previously won the tournament in 2011, marking his first-ever major victory. It’s been a long time since he’s won it, but he has placed inside of the top 10 in each of his last three entries.
If McIlroy’s U.S. Open history wasn’t enough, his play on the 2022 PGA TOUR is giving him a lot of momentum ahead of this week’s event.
McIlroy has placed T-18 or better in each of his last five outings, with four of those showings involving him finishing in at least eighth place. His top performance over that stretch actually came during his last appearance when he won the RBC Canadian Open over the weekend.
Aside from that, he also placed second at the Masters Tournament and eighth at the PGA Championship, showing that he can step up when a major title is on the line.
Taking both his long-term and recent history into account, it’s hard to find a better outright pick than McIlroy this week.
Justin Thomas (+1200)
Another golfer that I like who has some of the top odds to win the 2022 U.S. Open is Justin Thomas at +1200.
Although Thomas has yet to win the event, he’s placed inside of the top 25 in four of his last five entries, highlighted by a T-9 finish in 2017 before placing T-8 in 2020. However, I like Thomas more for his recent play on the PGA TOUR rather than what he’s done at the U.S. Open.
Like McIlroy, Thomas has been one of the most consistent golfers as of late. He has six top-5 placements in 15 events this season, with three of those instances coming in his last four outings.
The 29-year-old won the PGA Championship during that stretch while also placing T-5 at the AT&T Byron Nelson before finishing third at the Canadian Open.
Sometimes, it’s best to go with the hottest hand and, in this case, Thomas could make the case that it’s a title that should belong to him.
Brooks Koepka (+5000)
For bettors looking to get even more value out of a pick, Brooks Koepka at +5000 odds is someone worth considering.
Koepka’s odds are likely where they are because of his recent tour struggles. While he’s placed T-16 or better in four of his last nine outings, he’s also missed the cut four times in that span while placing T-55 in his last outing at the PGA Championship.
Nevertheless, Koepka is one of a few golfers to have won multiple U.S. Open titles, which he happened to accomplish back-to-back in 2017 and 2018. He almost made it three in a row but ended up being the runner-up in 2019.
Although he hasn’t placed that high since then, he did finish T-4 in last year’s event. Assuming he can keep that trend going this week, Koepka is a solid value pick ahead of the tournament’s tee-off.
Scottie Scheffler Top 5 (+250)
In terms of placement markets, I think Scottie Scheffler has a great opportunity to finish inside of the top 5.
Placing that high is just another day at the office for Scheffler, who’s accomplished seven top-5 finishes in 18 PGA TOUR events this season. If that wasn’t impressive in its own right, four of those showings resulted in victories for the 25-year-old, including his winning the green jacket at the Masters.
He’s yet to have a performance like that in four previous U.S. Open appearances, but he did place T-7 last year. Taking that into account, a Scheffler top-5 finish this week isn’t out of the question.
Tony Finau Top 10 (+270)
One golfer who might be flying under the radar ahead of the 2022 U.S. Open is Tony Finau.
The Salt Lake City, Utah native has been building up momentum as of late, placing T-4 once and T-2 twice in his last five events. He hasn’t exactly made an impact at this year’s previous majors, but his recent play gives fans a lot to like heading into Brookline.
Furthermore, Finau has placed fifth (2018) and T-8 (2020) at the U.S. Open in the past, so it’s not like he’s a stranger to top-10 finishes at the event. It’ll just come down to whether or not he can finally step up on one of golf’s biggest stages.
If Finau had been more consistent this season, I’d feel comfortable with a top-5 finish, but there’s still decent value to be had if he finishes 10th or better.
