After the first two rounds of the Masters, there’s a three-way tie atop the leaderboard. That sets up an exciting weekend at Augusta, and a lot of movement should take place in the third round today.
Following the first two rounds, first round leader Bryson DeChambeau, Max Homa, and tournament favorite Scottie Scheffler are all at -6.
Nicolai Hogjaard is two shots behind, while Cameron Davis and Collin Morikawa are three shots back. Ludvig Aberg is alone in seventh at -2, while there are seven players at -1, including former Masters winner Danny Willett, who made the cut at Augusta for just the third time since his 2016 win.
After numerous notable numbers in the first round, under-par scores were few on Friday. There were 26 under-par scores in the first round, but there were only seven in the second round.
As a result, the cut line changed significantly. Early on Friday, the projected cut line was +2, but it ended up being +6.
As a result, Tiger Woods (+1) easily made the Masters cut for a record 24th straight time. And even though they didn’t fare too well in the first two rounds, the likes of 2023 Masters winner Jon Rahm (+5), Phil Mickelson (+4), Rory McIlroy, and my winner pick, Will Zalatoris (+3), are all around for the weekend.
Among the names who weren’t able to hit that number are 2023 FedEx Cup winner Viktor Hovland and 2023 major winners Wyndham Clark and Brian Harman, as well as Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Sam Burns, and Sungjae Im.
2024 Masters Leaderboard (After Two Rounds)
- Bryson DeChambeau -6
- Max Homa -6
- Scottie Scheffler -6
- Nicolai Hojgaard -4
- Cameron Davis -3
- Collin Morikawa -3
- Ludvig Aberg -2
- Byeong-Hun An -1
- Tommy Fleetwood -1
- Ryan Fox -1
- Matthieu Pavon -1
- Cameron Smith -1
- Danny Willett -1
- Cameron Young -1
After navigating an up-and-down round to finish with an even-par 72, Scheffler enters the weekend as the favorite ahead of co-leaders DeChambeau and Homa, with Morikawa and Aberg rounding out the top five betting favorites, according to BetOnline, which has a bevy of Masters betting options to dive into.

2024 Masters Round Three Predictions and Picks
Scheffler’s second round at Augusta, which featured three birdies and three bogies, was just his second time this season that he did not finish under par.
He started his 2024 season with 28 consecutive under-par rounds before finishing with an even-par 70 in his second round at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, then had four more under-par rounds in a row before his 72 yesterday.
With the consistency that he has shown thus far this season, +120 for Scheffler to have the 54-hole lead is spectacular value.
Homa (67 and 71) and Morikawa (71 and 70) are the only two golfers in the field to finish under par in each of their first two rounds. Third-round head-to-head matchup odds have paired them together, with Morikawa (-125) favored to have a better round than Homa (+105).
Homa has never shot better than 70 in the third round of a major, so I’m inclined to lean Morikawa in that head-to-head matchup.
