The U.S. Open is one of the signature events of the PGA Tour. Torrey Pines in San Diego is a very familiar spot for many of these golfers though they do modify it for Major events like this one. Last week’s event, the Palmetto Championship, was won by Garrick Higgo with a -11. Nobody is expecting him to repeat against a very strong field this week nor for the winning player to post so low a score.
Bryson DeChambeau is one of the biggest personalities and best players in the world. He is looking to win it again while Brooks Koepka attempts to win his third U.S. Open. The Lefty, Phil Mickelson, has shown he can still be a threat to win even in his 50s. The U.S. Open is one even he has never won, though he has finished as the runner-up an amazing six times.

Betting The US Open
Golf events always offer many ways to get into the action, more so than standard team sports. Here are some bets I would recommend considering. With so many options the pricing can really vary from shop to shop so definitely scan the market for the best odds.
Odds to Win the 2021 U.S. Open
- Jon Rahm 10-1
- Dustin Johnson 16-1
- Bryson DeChambeau 18-1
- Brooks Koepka 18-1
- Rory McIlroy 20-1
- Jordan Spieth 20-1
- Xander Schauffele 20-1
- Justin Thomas 22-1
- Collin Morikawa 22-1
- Patrick Cantlay 25-1
To Win It:
Bryson DeChambeau (18-1):
The experts are saying that this course will suit him very well. We know he can be money under pressure, and that payoff is really good because the field is so deep.
Brooks Koepka (18-1):
Here is something interesting to note. The last time Koepka finished second at a Major he won the next Major event on the schedule. He will be looking to repeat that this week after a runner-up performance at the PGA Championship. Sure that anecdote might have nothing to do with who wins this week, but taking Koepka is never a bad bet. Those past US Open wins were on different courses, but he always comes ready for a Major.
Top-20 Finish
Patrick Reed (+100)
Reed has won on this course before and has three top 15s in his last four U.S. Opens. That is pretty consistent. There are bets that will payout more, but this is a pretty easy way to double your money.
Marc Leishman (+260)
Leishman is a great bet because he has always played well at Torrey Pines, finishing in the top 20 four times in the last five years. One of those was a win at the 2020 Farmers Insurance Open. If you believe that confidence is a major factor on the course, then Leishman should have plenty of it this week.
Top European:
Jon Rahm (+280)
Rahm made recent headlines when he was forced to leave his last tournament due to a positive COVID test. This number suggests that he is healthy and ready to go. If that is the case then he probably just has to outplay Rory McIlroy. I like the payoff there for a golfer that was in good form the last time we saw him. Lots of books have him as the overall favorite.
Major Longshot:
Max Homa (+11000)
A West Coast guy who may be feeling better than ever this week. He has five Top Ten finishes this season, so he is not coming out of nowhere.
