Churchill Downs Returns: Street Sense Sunday Analysis

Keeneland’s focus shifts to Breeders’ Cup with the fall meet over. Churchill will pick up the usual Sunday spot on the Kentucky race schedule. The feature is the Street Sense.

Churchill Downs- Race 1

Post: 1:00 PM ET; $120k Maiden Special Weight going 5 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 12

• #5 OLAZABAL (12-1) could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end. This one has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot.
• #10 ISLAND SWAGGER (8-1) should improve off the first start and has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
• #1 J J'S JOKER (10-1) is well bred for this spot. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Hartman and Arrieta.
• #3 BIRTHDAY MUNNINGS (6-1) should be part of the early pace in this spot.

• #7 HIGH CLASS (5-1) comes into the race in really good form. This one is well bred for this spot.
• #11 INVENTING ANNA (9-2) looks to be the class of the field.
• #16 MOMENT TO SHINE (5-1) debuts here and has to be respected going out for the combination of Rivelli and Loveberry.
• #2 DOUGHTY (6-1) should improve off the first start and has really consistent pace figures which should work well in a moderately paced race.

• #8 TINY TEMPER (3-1) should improve off the first start and shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/16 mile distance.
• #4 TOWHEAD (7-2) She has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot. This one has races good enough to beat this group.
• #7 ALPHA BELLA (4-1) She has really consistent pace figures which should work well in a moderately paced race. This one has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
• #2 THE ALYS LOOK (6-1) has to be respected going out for the combination of Cox and Geroux.

Post: 2:30 PM ET; $120k Maiden Special Weight going 6 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 16

• #15 KLASSY BRIDGETTE (5-2) should improve 2nd out and will likely have a lot to do in the lane, but could get up with a competitive run.
• #10 MARKET PROFILE (6-1) should take a step forward and goes out for the Asmussen barn and gets Santana in the irons.
• #2 BOARDWALK QUEEN (9-2) looked really good on debut and should progress off that effort.
• #1 LEMON BOMB (6-1) has the blood lines to be a player in this race. The first effort was productive enough.

• #14 DARIO (12-1) has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
• #10 O GANGSTER (20-1) makes sense on speed figures.
• #11 ROCKET CAN (9-2) He goes out for the Mott barn and gets Velazquez in the irons. This one comes into the race in really good form.
• #13 SPIELMAN (8-1) fits on figures. This one projects to sit mid pack and come with one run.

Churchill Downs- Race 6

Post: 3:31 PM ET; $200k Rags to Riches S. going 1 1/16 miles on dirt; Entries: 8

• #7 FUN AND FEISTY (2-1) has races good enough to beat this group. This one shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/16 mile distance.
• #6 NAUGHTY GAL (12-1) will likely be out on or near the lead and will look to hold off the charge to the wire. This one looks to be the class of the field.
• #1 HOOSIER PHILLY (5-2) should improve off the first start and shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/16 mile distance. This one has the top overall power rating in the group.
• #5 T MAX (9-2) runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here. This one makes sense on speed figures.

• #14 EASY ACTION (2-1) should improve off the first effort and the debut was good enough to be competitive here. The wide draw is the only concern.
• #8 JOKING WAY (5-2) makes the second start and should put forth a good effort.
• #13 REAGAN (5-2) should be part of the early pace in the second career race.
• #7 BACKSIDE BUZZ (15-1) has been running against some top flight runners and could be in with a shot at sweet price.

• #11 ECHO AGAIN (5-2) goes out for the Asmussen barn and gets Santana in the irons.
• #9 FRANK'S HONOR (7-2) has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
• #6 TAPIT'S CONQUEST (3-1) shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/16 mile distance. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Cox and Geroux.
• #10 B MINOR (10-1) has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts. This one seems to fit well enough here.

• #9 PRETTY MISCHIEVOUS (6-5) should improve off the first start and has races good enough to beat this group.
• #5 MUSTANG LADY (5-1) makes sense on speed figures.
• #1 CLOSED CAPTION (6-1) has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed.
• #2 PROMISE OF HOPE (9-2) has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.

Post: 5:35 PM ET; $200k Street Sense S. going 1 1/16 miles on dirt; Entries: 11

• #7 FROSTED DEPARTURE (6-1) comes into the race in really good form. This one may benefit from a hot pace up front.
• #1 TOP RECRUIT (5-1) has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
• #6 RED ROUTE ONE (3-1) goes out for the Asmussen barn and gets Santana in the irons.
• #9 HONED (10-1) could get the right setup in this race at a price. This one has shown ability in dirt routes.

Churchill Downs- Race 11

Post: 6:05 PM ET; $120k Maiden Special Weight going 1 1/16 miles on dirt; Entries: 15

• #14 ESCAPOLOGIST (5-1) has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
• #10 MO SATURDAYS (8-1) shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/16 mile distance.
• #2 DESERT WOLF (3-1) has experience over the distance and that should work in his favor. The inside draw should also benefit this runner.
• #13 RUNGIUS (4-1) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late. This one has really consistent pace figures which should work well in a moderately paced race.
