Grade 3 Lake George: Competitive Saratoga Turf Racing Continues

Thursday’s card from Saratoga Race Course features the Grade 3 Lake George. The contest is run at 1 mile on turf and looks like a wide open affair.

Saratoga Race Course- Race 1

Post: 1:05 PM ET; $105k Maiden Special Weight going 5 1/2 furlongs on turf; Entries: 10

On paper it looks like a good race to get a price horse home, but these maiden races at the spa can often be won by smart money. If any horses are taking extreme money on the board it may be wise to cast a wider net.

• #2 WICO (6-1) gets the top selection. He shouldn't have trouble with the 5 1/2 furlong distance. This one has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot.
• #3 ALIBI IKE (5-1) seems like the top that is running for the minor placings. He has to be respected going out for the combination of Ward and Ortiz.
• #7 INFLATION NATION (8-1) seems like the top that is running for the minor placings. He goes out for the Clement barn and gets Davis in the irons.
• #5 DATAMAN (10-1) seems like the top that is running for the minor placings. He goes out for the Motion barn and gets Rosario in the irons.

Post: 1:39 PM ET; $105k Maiden Special Weight going 1 mile on turf; Entries: 9

• #1A GROWTH CAPITAL (1-1) gets the top selection. He may get the absolute dream flow of the race in this spot. This one seems to fit well enough here.
• #6 OGLETHORPE (5-2) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. He has races good enough to beat this group. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Gargan and Rosario.
• #2 CLUBBING (6-1) isn't without hope. He should be in the right spot to be in with a chance late. This one has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
• #3 THE PRINCE'S SPUR (5-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. He should be in the right spot to be in with a chance late. This one may like the pace scenario that evolves in today’s contest.

Post: 2:15 PM ET; $64k Claiming going 1 mile on dirt; Entries: 8

• #7 AMERICAN RULE (9-2) gets the top selection. He may get the absolute perfect set up in this spot.
• #3 CLAYTNTHELIONHEART (4-1) appears to be a major player in this race. He has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
• #2 HAMMERIN AAMER (7-2) appears to be a major player in this race. He should be in the mix late with a chance to get the job done.
• #1 PIONEER SPIRIT (6-1) should be competitive in this spot. He looks to be the class of the field. The value on this one may be the greatest asset

Saratoga Race Course- Race 4

Post: 2:49 PM ET; $60k Maiden Claiming going 1 1/16 miles on turf; Entries: 9

• #8 BEACHFRONT BID (1-1) gets the top selection. She shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/16 mile distance and has already proven to be a good bet to hit the board in this type of race.
• #3 MISS BONNIE T (6-1) isn't without hope. She looks to be the class of the field. That is always a little suspect in maiden claiming, but some of the general rules don’t apply at Saratoga because of the quality of horses.
• #4 WHISKEY LULLABY (8-1) isn't without hope. She may get the absolute dream flow of the race in this spot.
• #7 I'M GLAD (5-2) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. She is a good bet to hit the board in this type of race. This one should be in the right spot to be in with a chance late.

Post: 3:21 PM ET; $50k Claiming going 1 mile on turf; Entries: 13

• #9 SONIC SPEED (10-1) gets the top selection. He has races good enough to beat this group and seems to fit well enough here.
• #1 CHESS'S DREAM (7-2) appears to be a major player in this race. He could get the right pace setup in this race.
• #8 FUTURE VICTORY (2-1) appears to be a major player in this race. He makes sense on speed figures. This one has the top overall power rating in the group.
• #6 OUR COUNTRY (9-2) should be competitive in this spot. He has the perfect run style for this type of race and may just get the perfect trip here.

Post: 3:55 PM ET; $42k Maiden Claiming going 1 mile on dirt; Entries: 9

• #1 RIA'S ANGEL (5-2) gets the top selection. This one is largely a pace play. It seems like this one will have the upper hand throughout the run of the race.
• #3 TUESDAY'S CHILD (5-1) is an interesting prospect. The pedigree on this one is what gives him a look at a fringe price.
• #8 LUCKY MUCHO MAN (6-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. He has run against some fields that make him worth a look here.
• #4 SLOW DECISION (2-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. He has to be respected going out for the combination of Rodriguez and Ortiz. This bloodlines make sense on this one.

Saratoga Race Course- Race 7

Post: 4:29 PM ET; $115k Allowance going 1 1/8 miles on dirt; Entries: 8

• #1 KEEPMEINMIND (1-1) gets the top selection. He has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Pletcher and Rosario.
• #2 PRINCE OF PHAROAHS (12-1) could be in with a shot in this race. He should be in the right spot to be in the mix late. This one feels like a great use in vertical key wagers. I would use this one over and under other selections in exactas and trifectas.
• #6 TIWANAKU (6-1) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. He may get the proper pace set up in this spot.
• #4 NAVAL AVIATOR (8-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. He has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.

Post: 5:05 PM ET; $100k Allowance Optional Claiming going 5 1/2 furlongs on turf; Entries: 11

• #3 KOKOPELLI (9-2) gets the top selection. She shouldn't have trouble with the 5 1/2 furlong distance. I would be shocked if this one doesn’t have her nose near the wire when then take they photo.
• #6 SASSY MELISSA (5-2) appears to be a major player in this race. She seems to fit well enough here. This one has multiple races good enough to beat this field.
• #5 PALACE GOSSIP (4-1) could be in with a shot in this race. This one comes into the race in really good form. Her recent starts have been against some really talented horses.
• #1 MAKIN MY MOVE (7-2) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. She makes sense on speed figures.

Saratoga Race Course- Race 9

Post: 5:39 PM ET; $175k Lake George Stakes going 1 mile on turf; Entries: 9

• #8 SKIMS (9-2) gets the top selection. She makes sense on speed figures. This one has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here. Rosario is in the saddle and that should instill great confidence in the backers as there are few better at gauging pace on the turf.
• #6 EMINENT VICTOR (5-2) appears to be a major player in this race. She shouldn't have trouble with the 1 mile distance. It feels like she will definitely factor in some aspect of the tote.
• #5 DOLCE ZEL (3-1) appears to be a major player in this race. She makes sense on speed figures. This one has run against some really competitive fields recently.
• #4 KOALA PRINCESS (9-2) should be competitive in this spot. She has races good enough to beat this group. This one has the perfect run style for this type of race and may just get an advantageous race flow here.

Post: 6:13 PM ET; $95k Allowance going 6 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 14

• #8 LET HER INSPIRE U (2-1) gets the top selection. The distance and pace projection of this race seem to hit her right between the eyes.
• #9 LIBERTY FLAME (12-1) should be competitive in this spot. She shouldn't have trouble with the 6 furlong distance. This one should be in a spot to outrun the odds in this spot.
• #2 QUEEN ARELLA (8-1) could be in with a shot in this race. She has back races that suggest she can run against a field like this.
• #10 READY A. P. (5-1) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. This one should be in and around the top horses as they are coming for home.
