Gulfstream Park Saturday: Sunshine Stakes Horse Racing Analysis (1/14)

The Saturday card from Gulfstream Park features the Sunshine Filly and Mare Turf and the Sunshine Sprint. Both the turf and dirt have been kind to speed recently.

Gulfstream Park- Race 1

Post: 12:10 PM ET; $32k Maiden Claiming going 1 mile on turf; Entries: 12

• #11 SPY TOWN (20-1) is a price horse and gets the top selection. He makes sense on speed figures. These races are ripe for big upsets.
• #7 MATRO (15-1) seems to class up well enough especially given the price.
• #12 SMOOTH MOTION (3-1) appears to be a major player in this race. He goes out for the Barboza barn and gets Reyes in the irons.
• #1 MASTER OOGWAY (10-1) should be competitive in this spot. He shouldn't have trouble with the 1 mile distance.

• #3 NEOPHYTE (5-2) is the top pick. He has really consistent pace figures which should work well in a moderately paced race.
• #8 HELL'S KITTEN (9-2) has to be respected going out for the combination of Joseph and Zayas.
• #1 DOCTOR RON (5-1) has the top overall power rating in the group. This one runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here.
• #6 BANKER'S HOURS (7-2) has to be respected with Loza looking to Luis Saez for the ride.

• #2 EXPAND THE MAP (5-2) looks best here. She looks to be the class of the field.
• #8 ARROBLUE (8-1) has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here. This one will likely have a lot to do in the lane, but could get up with a competitive run.
• #5 WAR PRINCESS (3-1) should improve off the first start and that makes her competitive.
• #6 CHIROMANTE (4-1) comes into the race in really good form.

• #7 BAHAMIAN MOON (7-2) gets the top selection. She has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
• #2 DESIGNED BY KITTEN (3-1) should be competitive in this spot. She seems to fit well enough here.
• #5 LI LI BEAR (4-1) has really consistent pace figures which should work well in a moderately paced race. This one has races good enough to beat this group.
• #6 VEERY (9-2) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late. This one has the top overall power rating in the group.

• #8 SGT. PEPPER (5-2) debuts here and has to be respected going out for the combination of Pletcher and Ortiz.
• #3 LOVE SPELL (6-1) should improve off the first start and has already hit the board at this level.
• #1 SECRET THREAT (12-1) is a price horse and comes into the race in really good form.

• #8 SENDERO (5-2) looks best here. He makes sense on speed figures. This one could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
• #5 TUMBARUMBA (4-1) isn't without hope. He shouldn't have trouble with the about 7 1/2 furlong distance. This one will be rolling late and has a good closing kick that could get the job done here.
• #7 MOON LANDING (5-1) should improve off the first start and is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. He makes sense on speed figures. This one could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
• #3 BLAMETHEGOODTIMES (10-1) is a price horse that wouldn’t be a shock to hit the board.

• #2 VELOCE BELLA (3-1) has the top overall power rating in the group. This one could get the right setup in this race.
• #8 ADIOS BABE (6-1) makes sense on speed figures. This one projects to sit mid pack and come with one run.
