Gulfstream Park Thursday: Claimers Take Center Stage

The Thursday card from Gulfstream Park features a host of claiming types. These runners are the life blood of American thoroughbred racing.

• #5 TURF ACCOUNTANT (2-1) gets the top selection. She will be rolling late and has a good closing kick that could get the job done here. This one looks to be the class of the field.
• #3 ALWAYS ROYAL (3-1) could be in with a shot in this race. She makes sense on speed figures. This one has to be respected with Ortiz in the irons.
• #8 PSYCHEDELIC (3-1) makes sense on speed figures. This one could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
• #6 LUMINANT (8-1) debuts here and isn't without hope. She goes out for the Sano barn and gets Zayas in the irons.

• #1 CHRISTENSEN (5-1) appears to be a major player in this race. This one has really consistent pace figures which should work well in a moderately paced race.
• #4 FACE ABARRIO (6-1) should be competitive in this spot. He should be part of the early pace in this spot. This one shouldn't have trouble with the 5 furlong distance.
• #6 EXTENDO (8-5) runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here. This one has the top overall power rating in the group.

• #4 EASY AS A. B. C. (1-1) looks best here. He has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot. This one should be sitting in the second tier of runners and looking to make one well timed run at the leaders.
• #1 MOUSEFAST (9-2) should improve off the first start and seems to be running for the minor placings in this contest. He could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of D'Angelo and Saez.
• #7 DISCREETLY THRIFTY (5-1) seems to be running for the minor placings in this contest. He seems to fit well enough here.
• #5 ALDO'S DREAM (10-1) is a price horse and has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed.

• #5 BORDER TOWN (7-2) should be competitive in this spot. He may benefit from a hot pace up front. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Maker and Ortiz.
• #2 DOMINATE THEMOMENT (10-1) is a price horse and feels like a fringe contender in this spot. He makes sense on speed figures.
• #1 INHALATION (5-1) comes into the race in really good form.

• #1 DEVIL'S CAY (5-1) should improve off the first start and is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. He has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed.

• #2 DR POST (7-5) gets the top selection. He has to be respected going out for the combination of Pletcher and Ortiz. This one has really consistent pace figures which should work well in a moderately paced race.
• #1 ENDORSED (2-1) isn't without hope. He runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here.
• #4 PACO'S PICO (6-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. He will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late. This one has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
• #8 SHIVAREE (15-1) is a hard trying horse that wouldn’t be a surprise to find the number here.

• #4 DR. DUKE (10-1) is a price horse and feels like a fringe contender in this spot. He has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here. This one could get the right setup in this race.
• #8 CITY MISCHIEF (10-1) isn't without hope. He has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
