Gulfstream Park Wednesday: 5 Day Racing Week Returns

Gulfstream Park returns Wednesday to officially kick off the Championship Meet. The meet is often a highlight of the winter because of the top connections that like to winter in south Florida.

Gulfstream Park- Race 1

Post: 12:10 PM ET; $50k Maiden Optional Claiming going 5 furlongs on turf; Entries: 11

• #3 LAKESIDE GETAWAY (6-1) should improve off the first start and gets the top selection. She shouldn't have trouble with the 5 furlong distance.
• #10 PINK PARTY PANTS (7-2) should improve second time out and should be competitive in this spot. She has to be respected going out for the combination of Gargan and Vasquez.
• #4 WELD HALL (8-1) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. She makes sense on speed figures. This one has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot.
• #2 MEGAN MAKIN MONEY (4-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. She has races good enough to beat this group. This one could run well here based on the bloodlines.

• #6 EL GUAPO (12-1) is a price horse and is the top pick. He comes into the race in really good form.
• #5 ROYAL ATTITUDE (2-1) should be competitive in this spot. He looks to be the class of the field. This one has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
• #2 FEDERAL EXCHANGE (4-1) has races good enough to beat this group.
• #3 PACIFIC LEGEND (20-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets, but seems like the type that could blow up the exotics.

Post: 1:05 PM ET; $21k Maiden Claiming going 1 mile 70 yards on all weather track; Entries: 8

• #4 HEART BOY (5-2) looks best here. He will be rolling late and has a good closing kick that could get the job done here. This one goes out for the Hurtak barn and gets Vasquez in the irons.
• #5 MATEO (4-1) appears to be a major player in this race. He has to be respected going out for the combination of Sano and Zayas. This one seems to fit well here.
• #6 ARMOR PIERCING (15-1) should be competitive in this spot. He makes sense on speed figures. This one has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed.
• #7 PRESTON MURRAY (5-1) should improve off the first start and could be in with a shot in this race. He has to be respected going out for the combination of Barboza and Jaramillo.

• #8 TOO MUCH VINO (6-5) gets the top selection. She has to be respected going out for the combination of Delgado and Sutherland. This one looks to be the class of the field.
• #3 TESTED POSITIVE (5-1) should be competitive in this spot. She will likely have a lot to do in the lane, but could get up with a competitive run.
• #2 SUNCOAST VIXEN (6-1) debuts here and has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot.
• #1 CARAVANA (12-1) isn't without hope. She shouldn't have trouble with the 6 1/2 furlong distance. This one has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.

Gulfstream Park- Race 5

Post: 2:05 PM ET; $28k Claiming going 1 mile on turf; Entries: 10

• #1 EXULT (5-2) is the top pick. He has to be respected going out for the combination of Maker and Saez. This one will be rolling late and has a good closing kick that could get the job done here.
• #8 MO HAWK (3-1) has the top overall power rating in the group. This one makes sense on speed figures.
• #5 PRINCE MAIOR (4-1) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late. This one goes out for the Navarro barn and gets Zayas in the irons.
• #7 CARAMEL CHIP (20-1) is a price horse and seems to be running for the minor placings in this contest. He may benefit from a hot pace up front. This one seems to fit well enough here.

• #7 ACTION ROSE (3-1) looks best here. She will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late. This one comes into the race in really good form.
• #4 PRINCIPIA (5-1) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. She is well bred for this spot.
• #1 LUVISANAKI (6-1) should improve off the first start and isn't without hope. The debut should provide a solid foundation for this race.
• #2 BEDTIME STORY (5-1) debuts here and has to be respected going out for the combination of D'Angelo and Gonzalez.
