Hettinger Stakes Analysis: Belmont Friday Analysis, Selections

The racing week from Aqueduct continues Friday. The card features the John Hettinger Stakes where Marvelous Maude appears to hold a strong hand.

Belmont at the Big A- Race 1

Post: 1:00 PM ET; $47k Maiden Claiming going 1 mile on dirt; Entries: 7

• #5 NORTH POLE (3-1) has to be respected going out for the combination of Jacobson and Ortiz. This one has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot.
• #7 ABUNDANT HONOR (8-5) looks to be the class of the field. The blood lines make this one a player.
• #6 ORDER OF MAGNITUDE (2-1) shouldn't have trouble with the 1 mile distance. This one has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
• #4 FAZARO (10-1) is a price horse and has kept solid company thus far. This one makes sense on pedigree.

• #4 STRONG ODOR (9-2) has races good enough to beat this group. This one may benefit from a hot pace up front.
• #7 MAIL ORDER (2-1) has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here. This one has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
• #3 MISCHIEVOUS DREAM (3-1) comes into the race in really good form. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Clement and Ortiz.
• #2 LIA MARINA (4-1) has been really good sprinting on the turf. This one gets one of the top turf jockeys in the country in Joel Rosario.

• #6 SUCCULENT (3-1) comes into the race in really good form. This one seems to fit really well here.
• #12 VOLEUSE (3-1) has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed. This one looks to be the class of the field.
• #2 LEM ME DRINK (6-1) classes up with these runners. This one could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
• #4 TARA DANCER (6-1) should be involved early and has the experience to be a player here.

Selections: 6 – 12- 2 – 4

• #4 ACTUALIZE (2-1) has to be respected going out for the combination of Baker and Rosario. This one could get the right setup in this race.
• #2 NECROMANCER (7-2) makes sense on speed figures. This one may benefit from a hot pace up front.
• #1 GENESIS ONE (12-1) is a price horse that is a little interesting at 12-1.
• #6 UPPER LEVEL (9-5) has been keeping solid company thus far and wouldn’t be a surprise here.

• #1 SAINT SELBY (9-5) has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts. This one has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
• #6 HAPPY FARM (4-1) looks to be the class of the field.
• #4 SENBEI (3-1) shouldn't have trouble with the 6 1/2 furlong distance. This one has been really good in dirt sprints.
• #2 STAGE LEFT (9-2) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.

Post: 3:35 PM ET; $77k Maiden Special Weight going 6 furlongs on turf; Entries: 16

• #2 FANCYPANTS JULIANA (7-2) should improve off the first start and shouldn't have trouble with the 6 furlong distance. This one will likely be out on or near the lead and will look to hold off the charge to the wire.
• #14 HIGHWAY HARMONY (7-2) goes out for the second time and the first effort was really good. The wide draw will be a concern.
• #10 MOONAGE DAYDREAM (9-2) ran on late in the debut and with enough heat up front this one has a chance to work out the trip.
• #13 SHOWEMYOURHEELS (3-1) has a good closing kick that could get the job done here. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Gargan and Ortiz.

• #4 MARVELOUS MAUDE (5-2) looks to be the class of the field.
• #1 CLASSIC LADY (6-1) seems to fit well enough here. This one has proven to be able to handle these conditions before.
• #6 ICE PRINCESS (8-1) fits the turf route condition perfectly and could be eligible to outrun the odds.
• #7 RUNAWAY RUMOUR (9-2) could get the right setup in this race. This one seems to fit well enough here.

Post: 4:41 PM ET; $70k Claiming going 1 1/8 miles on dirt; Entries: 8

• #8 GRUMPS LITTLE TOTS (8-1) has really consistent pace figures which should work well in a moderately paced race. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Baker and Rosario.
• #7 TWO THIRTY FIVE (6-1) will likely be in the mid pack and should be making a late move on the front. This one shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/8 mile distance.
• #3 WINTER POOL (7-2) is a good bet to hit the board in this type of race. It would be surprising not to see this one in the mix at the end.
• #5 AMERICAN TATTOO (7-2) makes sense on speed figures. This one runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here.

Post: 5:13 PM ET; $105k Allowance going 1 1/16 miles on turf; Entries: 15

• #3 PARNAC (4-1) should be sitting in the second tier of runners and looking to make one well timed run at the leaders.
• #6 OUT OF SIGHT (8-1) seems to fit well enough here. This one has tactical speed and can sit just off the leaders for a stalk and pounce trip.
• #1 DIAMOND HANDS (4-1) comes into the race in really good form. This one should be part of the early pace in this spot.
• #5 MARKETSEGMENTATION (3-1) should improve off the first start and has to be respected going out for the combination of Brown and Ortiz.
