La Jolla Stakes Closes Out Weekend at Del Mar (8/7)

The racing week comes to a close on Sunday at Del Mar. The final feature of the weekend is the La Jolla. The grade 3 race will take place on the Del Mar turf.
Del Mar- Race 1
Post: 2:00 PM PT; $30k Maiden Claiming going 5 1/2 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 10
- #2 GOLDEN HALO (5-1) gets the top selection and is well bred for this spot.
- #6 BOISTEROUSLY IRISH (5-1) runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here.
- #3 LIVING WITH AUTISM (8-1) debuts here and has solid pedigree for this spot.
- #7 SQUARE FOOTAGE (4-1) should improve off the first start and shouldn't have trouble with the 5 1/2 furlong distance.

Del Mar- Race 2

- #5 CRIMSON ROSE (4-1) is the top pick. She has the top overall power rating in the group.
- #4 M IS FOR MAGIC (5-1) has tactical speed and can sit just off the leaders for a stalk and pounce trip.
- #3 WARREN'S QUEEN BEE (12-1) is a price horse and could be in with a shot in this race. She makes sense on speed figures.
- #1 CAUSE SHE'S A LADY (8-1) shouldn't have trouble with the 6 furlong distance.

- #1 PARK CITY (8-5) should improve off the first start and looks best here going out for the combination of Blacker and Rispoli.
- #10 ZOOKEEPER (4-1) ran a debut that puts him in the mix.
- #6 BLOCKED (6-1) should have gotten a good foundation out of the first start.
- #2 MUCINO (6-1) debuts here and looks the best of the new faces.

- #2 LEYAS CANDY (3-1) comes into the race in really good form.
- #5 THORNE HOUSE (5-2) should improve off the first start and runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here.
- #7 MAGNIFICENT RIDE (4-1) is well bred for this spot.
- #3 CRIBBAGE BOARD (8-1) could be a surprise player in this spot.

Del Mar- Race 5

- #4 SUMTER (9-5) is the top pick. He has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
- #5 CABO SPIRIT (5-2) shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/16th mile distance.
- #2 STAYINCOTAI (6-1) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. He has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
- #6 BRIT'S WIT (8-1) may benefit from a hot pace up front.

- #4 IF ID TOLD YOU (6-1) looks to be the class of the field.
- #3 NEXT FLIGHT (20-1) has races good enough to beat this group.
- #8 SQUARE CAT (8-1) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.

- #8 D'S LOVELY SOPHIA (8-1) should be competitive in this spot going out for the Palma barn with Bravo in the irons.
- #6 ICONIC SKY (4-1) shouldn't have trouble with the 5 furlong distance.

Del Mar- Race 10

- #10 E Z PHARIS (6-1) isn't without hope. She runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here. This one makes sense on speed figures.
- #1 LOV U MEAN IT (15-1) is a price horse and is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. She has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
- #6 CHISMOSA (12-1) goes out for the Deleon barn and gets Payeras in the saddle.

Del Mar- Race 11

- #12 OPRY (5-2) is the top pick. He has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here. This one looks to be the class of the field.
- #14 MOODY JIM (4-1) should be competitive in this spot. He makes sense on speed figures. This one shouldn't have trouble with the 1 mile distance.
- #7 TARTINI (7-2) may benefit from a hot pace up front.
- #5 EAST RAND (8-1) could get the right setup in this race.
