Coach Adams enters as a strong favorite in Friday’s feature at Monmouth Park. With no stakes on the card the contentious allowance is featured as race 7.
Friday Full Card Analysis
After the Haskell which is Monmouth’s biggest day and ahead of the Monmouth Oaks, the New Jersey track will run a number of cards for the allowance and claiming types on the grounds.
Most tracks do not have the luxury of a robust population of elite runners. The days between big events become a chance for racing secretaries to get the horses on the back side races while buying time as the top horses on the grounds rest up for the next marquee event.
For bettors these maiden and claimer heavy cards can often provide the best opportunities because they invite a little extra chaos into the mix.
Monmouth Park- Race 1
Post: 2:00 PM ET; $19k Maiden Claiming going 1 1/16 miles on dirt; Entries: 8
- #5 MAKING IT (2-5) gets the top selection. He has races good enough to beat this group. This one seems the obvious choice but at this level there is nothing obvious.
- #7 KHOPILOT (6-1) seems to be running for the minor placings in this contest. He has to be respected going out for the combination of Delgado and Rojas.
- #1 PLUNK (8-1) is the kind of runner that could outrun his odds. Not sure this one is likely to contend for the top spot, but a logical player in other spots.
- #4 LORD JAXSTON (8-1) seems to be running for the minor placings in this contest. He goes out for the Hills barn and gets Rendon in the irons. This one has run against decent company.
Selections: 5 – 7 – 1 – 4
Monmouth Park- Race 2

- #5 ALTA VELOCITA (3-2) gets the top selection. She shouldn't have trouble with the 6 furlong distance. This one has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
- #6 RAY AREWETHEREYET (9-5) is the obvious other contender. She has tactical speed and can sit just off the leaders for a stalk and pounce trip.
- #3 ABOVE PAR (5-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. She may get the absolute dream flow of the race in this spot.
- #2 PRINCESS GEORGIA (10-1) is a price horse and is probably best to fill out exacta and trifecta tickets. She has to be respected going out for the combination of Gonzalez and Torres.
Selections: 5 – 6 – 3 – 2
Monmouth Park- Race 3
Post: 2:56 PM ET; $34k Maiden Claiming going 6 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 7
