Pegasus World Cup: Gulfstream Park Saturday Analaysis

The biggest day of winter racing is this Saturday from Gulfstream Park. The Pegasus World Cup and Turf will be run in Hallandale Beach with some of the biggest stars in training.

Gulfstream Park- Race 1

Post: 10:50 AM ET; $86k Allowance Optional Claiming going 1 mile on turf; Entries: 16

• #2 BREAKER OF CHAINS (3-1) gets the top selection. She has the top overall power rating in the group.
• #13 WONKA (8-1) has races good enough to beat this group.
• #14 STUCK ON KITTEN (10-1) seems to fit well enough here for the price.
• #4 SHE'S THE ONE (5-1) goes out for the Clement barn and gets Rosario in the irons.

Gulfstream Park- Race 2

Post: 11:19 AM ET; $84k Maiden Special Weight going 7 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 9

• #5 SUMMONYOURCOURAGE (4-1) is the top pick. He has races good enough to beat this group. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Pletcher and Ortiz.
• #3 KENTUCKY JOKER (3-1) shouldn't have trouble with the 7 furlong distance.
• #9 PERFORM (4-1) has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here. This one makes sense on speed figures.
• #8 BOURBON RESOLVE (6-1) should improve off the first start and could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.

Gulfstream Park- Race 3

Post: 11:48 AM ET; $87k Allowance Optional Claiming going 1 3/8 miles on turf; Entries: 11

• #1 CORELLI (5-2) looks best here. He has to be respected going out for the combination of Thomas and Dettori. This one looks to be the class of the field.
• #9 EVER DANGEROUS (9-2) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.
• #6 CUPID'S CLAWS (15-1) has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
• #8 HENLEY'S JOY (12-1) is a price horse and feels like a fringe contender in this spot. He has back races that would win, but you have to look back a ways to find them.

Gulfstream Park- Race 4

Post: 12:17 PM ET; $100k Handicap going 1 mile 70 yards on all weather track; Entries: 9

• #6 KEEPER OF TIME (7-2) gets the top selection. She has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
• #7 MOZAY (6-1) has to be respected going out for the combination of Mott and Ortiz.
• #1 KAHIKO (5-1) should be competitive in this spot. Kent Sweezey calls on Ortiz for the mount which has to be a positive sign..
• #2 LOVE HER LOTS (10-1) is a price horse and may benefit from a hot pace up front.

Gulfstream Park- Race 5

• #4 AXTHELM (4-1) is the top pick. He shouldn't have trouble with the 1 mile distance and may just outlast these.
• #15 NOT PHAR NOW (4-1) could be in with a shot in this race. He has races good enough to beat this group.
• #10 NERVES OF STEEL (20-1) has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
• #11 JOURNEYMAN (3-1) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. This one could get the right setup in this race.

Gulfstream Park- Race 6

• #5 ADVENTURING (7-5) looks best here. She looks to be the class of the field.
• #2 PERSONAL BEST (7-2) should be competitive in this spot. She has races good enough to beat this group.
• #4 BESIDE HERSELF (5-1) isn't without hope. She has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
• #6 TRANSIENT (4-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. She goes out for the Joseph barn and gets Gaffalione in the irons.

Post: 1:50 PM ET; $100k Handicap going 1 mile 70 yards on all weather track; Entries: 16

• #5 WOLFIE'S DYNAGHOST (9-2) gets the top selection. He has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
• #1 KING CAUSE (4-1) appears to be a major player in this race. He seems to fit well with these types.
• #3 RAMSEY SOLUTION (5-1) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late. This one looks to be the class of the field.
• #2 SKYRO (8-1) has races good enough to beat this group. This one has tactical speed and can sit just off the leaders for a stalk and pounce trip.

Gulfstream Park- Race 8

Post: 2:27 PM ET; $200k Inside Information S. presented by Brightline going 7 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 10

• #4 OBLIGATORY (7-5) is the top pick. She looks to be the class of the field. This one has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
• #3 COLORFUL MISCHIEF (6-1) runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here.
• #9 LAST LEAF (12-1) is a price horse and comes into the race in really good form. This one is a good bet to hit the board in this type of race.
• #10 R ADIOS JERSEY (8-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. She has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.

Gulfstream Park- Race 9

Post: 3:01 PM ET; $200k William L. McKnight S. presented by Davidoff Cigars going 1 1/2 miles on turf; Entries: 13

• #7 CHANNEL MAKER (3-1) looks best here. He seems to fit well enough here. He is just one of my favorite types and always shows up in the biggest spots.
• #11 RED KNIGHT (9-2) appears to be a major player in this race. He has figures that absolutely fit in this spot.
• #6 TEMPLE (9-2) should be competitive in this spot. He has to be respected going out for the combination of Maker and Geroux.
• #9 VALUE ENGINEERING (8-1) isn't without hope. He will likely have a lot to do in the lane, but could get up with a competitive run.

Gulfstream Park- Race 10

Post: 3:34 PM ET; $150k Fred W. Hooper S. presented by Whispering Angel going 1 mile on dirt; Entries: 13

• #1 MILES D (3-1) gets the top selection. He will likely have a lot to do in the lane, but could get up with a competitive run and has the talent.
• #12 PREVALENCE (15-1) may benefit from a hot pace up front. This one shouldn't have trouble with the 1 mile distance.
• #9 ENDORSED (5-1) has the top overall power rating in the group.
• #3 MISH (6-1) goes out for the Joseph barn and gets Zayas in the irons.

Gulfstream Park- Race 11

Post: 4:06 PM ET; $500k TAA Pegasus World Cup Filly and Mare Turf Invitational S. presented by Pepsi going 1 1/16 miles on turf; Entries: 11

• #9 SHANTISARA (9-5) is the top pick. She has races good enough to beat this group. This one runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here.
• #6 QUEEN GODDESS (9-2) appears to be a major player in this race. She will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late. The turf has been kind to those on the front.
• #3 WAKANAKA (5-1) comes from a top turf outfit and seems to class up well with these.
• #2 DALIKA (5-2) comes off a win in the grade 3 Cardinal at Churchill.

Post: 4:40 PM ET; $1000k Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational S. presented by Qatar Racing going 1 1/8 miles on turf; Entries: 14

• #10 IVAR (5-2) looks best here. He seems to fit well enough here. This one could get the right setup in this race.
• #11 MASTER PIECE (10-1) looks to be the class of the field. This one makes sense on speed figures.
• #6 LADY SPEIGHTSPEARE (6-1) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.
• #12 CITY MAN (4-1) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. He has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.

Gulfstream Park- Race 13

Post: 5:40 PM ET; $3000k Pegasus World Cup Invitational S. presented by Baccarat going 1 1/8 miles on dirt; Entries: 14

• #10 CYBERKNIFE (5-2) gets the top selection. He shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/8 mile distance. This one has the top overall power rating in the group and has to be considered the top horse in training for the Classic division.
• #5 DEFUNDED (6-1) is maybe the one most likely to give the favorite some issues. This one has just been a cut below.
• #7 SKIPPYLONGSTOCKING (5-1) has been a horse that has always had a bit of buzz, but it just never seems to translate on wins on the big stage. This one is probably best underneath.
• #6 ART COLLECTOR (10-1) is a player depending on which version shows up. At his best he’s really good, but when off form he can be pretty disappointing. Just ask those who backed him last time out.
