Presidents Day Horse Racing: Aqueduct Analysis, Selections

The Presidents Day from Aqueduct features the Haynesfield. Racing on Monday is rare at the Big A, but always presents good pools when they do run off schedules.

Aqueduct- Race 1

Post: 1:20 PM ET; $37k Claiming going 1 mile on dirt; Entries: 5

• #5 RACING COLORS (4-1) gets the top selection. She seems to fit well enough here. This one has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed.
• #2 GAGLIANO (2-1) should be competitive in this spot. She looks to be the class of the field. This one has the top overall power rating in the group.
• #4 SIMPLE SUGAR (7-2) could be in with a shot in this race. She has to be respected going out for the combination of Giglio and Samuel.
• #3 R GIRL FAITH (5-2) is one that definitely fits in this group. The price is a little short for my liking, but it wouldn’t be a total surprise to see this one in the mix.

Aqueduct- Race 2

Post: 1:50 PM ET; $55k Starter Allowance going 6 1/2 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 6

• #2 REIGNING CHICK (8-5) is the top pick. She has the top overall power rating in the group. This one has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed.
• #6 BANKERS DAUGHTER (3-1) feels like a contender in this spot. She makes sense on speed figures. This one could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
• #5 TRUE EMPRESS (3-1) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. She projects to sit mid pack and come with one run. This one has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
• #4 DEVILLY (10-1) is a price horse and seems to be running for the minor placings in this contest. She should be sitting in the second tier of runners and looking to make one well timed run at the leaders. If this one gets bold she could be sitting a bit closer than usual in this field which doesn’t project to have any need the lead types.

• #3 PONCHO SONG (5-2) looks best here. She has to be respected going out for the combination of Atras and Davis. This one has the top overall power rating in the group.
• #4 RAFFINITY (9-5) appears to be a major player in this race. She has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
• #2 SYNONYMOUS (4-1) could be in with a shot in this race. She will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.
• #6 CARLY HUSTLE (8-1) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. She makes sense on speed figures. This one will be rolling late and has a good closing kick that could get the job done here.

Aqueduct- Race 4

Post: 2:51 PM ET; $37k Claiming going 6 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 7

• #3 WIN FOR GOLD (9-5) gets the top selection. He looks to be the class of the field and may just be too much for these.
• #2 JOKEMEISTER (3-1) should be competitive in this spot. He has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
• #5 JELLY NOUGAT (7-2) makes sense on paper. This one should be part of the early pace in this spot. He has been running against some good company which should have him well positioned to be a factor.
• #1 CATCHING CUPID (8-1) isn't without hope based on the horses he’s been knocking heads with lately.

Aqueduct- Race 5

Post: 3:22 PM ET; $70k Maiden Special Weight going 6 1/2 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 7

• #2 GOOD ACCELEBRATE (7-2) gets a tepid top selection here. She has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
• #6 NORTHWAY (5-2) debuts has to be respected going out for the combination of Handal and Davis. The morning line suggests this one has plenty of buzz in the barns.
• #7 CLOVER STREET (2-1) should be competitive in this spot. She will be rolling late and has a good closing kick that could get the job done here. This one has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
• #3 BANDULU QUEEN (20-1) is a price horse and is the kind you will need on your verticals if you hope to pump any value into an otherwise formful race.

Aqueduct- Race 6

Post: 3:55 PM ET; $100k Haynesfield S. going 1 mile on dirt; Entries: 5

• #2 WUDDA U THINK NOW (9-5) looks best here. He goes out for the Rodriguez barn and gets Davis in the irons. This one has the top overall power rating in the group.
• #5 BANKIT (3-1) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late. This one has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
• #4 DR ARDITO (6-5) may benefit from a hot pace up front but the weekend has shown speed holding up on the main track. That scares me taking a short price on a horse that needs a bit of a setup.
• #3 SEA FOAM (6-1) should be part of the early pace in this spot. This is the horse you love to root for as he’s been a hard trying runner that dances every dance.

Selections: 2 – 5 – 4 – 3

Aqueduct- Race 7

Post: 4:26 PM ET; $88k Allowance Optional Claiming going 1 mile on dirt; Entries: 7

• #3 MARKET ALERT (3-1) gets the top selection. He has tactical speed and can sit just off the leaders for a stalk and pounce trip. This one has the top overall power rating in the group.
• #2 CHESTERTOWN (5-1) should be competitive in this spot. He will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late. This one has just never lived up to the purchase price, but has been competitive in these ranks.
• #7 NO BURN (2-1) should be competitive in this spot. He fits extremely well with these types but would benefit from a hot pace up front.
• #1 LOBSTA (6-1) could be in with a shot in this race. He looks to be the class of the field. This one shouldn't have trouble with the 1 mile distance.

Aqueduct- Race 8

Post: 4:57 PM ET; $72k Allowance Optional Claiming going 6 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 8

• #3 LOOMS BOLDLY (5-2) is the top pick. He should be part of the early pace in this spot. This one has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
• #7 PLEASE BE NICE (4-5) should improve off the first start and should be competitive in this spot. He shouldn't have trouble with the 6 furlong distance. This one has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
• #2 WHAT'S UP BRO (5-1) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. He looks to be the class of the field. This one runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here.
• #4 BOBBY THE TANK (10-1) is a price horse and is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. He projects to sit mid pack and come with one run. This one seems to fit well enough here.
