Raven Run Stakes: Keeneland Saturday Analysis, Selections

The Perryville will join the Lexus Raven Run as the other stakes race on Saturday at Keeneland. Keeneland will host the Breeders’ Cup early next month.

Keeneland- Race 1

Post: 1:00 PM ET; $47k Maiden Claiming going 1 1/16 miles on dirt; Entries: 13

• #3 CALIFORNIA TWIRL (3-1) gets the top selection. He shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/16 mile distance. This one has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed.
• #10 HE'S A GOOD DANCER (8-1) is well bred for this spot. This one should be sitting in the second tier of runners and looking to make one well timed run at the leaders.
• #4 WESLAN (15-1) could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
• #11 QUALIFIED (9-2) should improve off the first start and should be competitive in this spot. He makes sense off the debut figure.

• #12 FLOWERDEW (20-1) is a price horse and comes into the race in really good form. This one could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
• #10 WEEHAWKEN (6-1) is well bred for this spot.
• #2 QUEENANNE'SREVENGE (6-1) should improve off the first start and should be competitive in this spot. The debut figure was a good start.

• #3 INSOLITO (6-1) has races good enough to beat this group. This one has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot.
• #5 YOU MAKE ME HAPPY (15-1) is a price horse that has been running against some decent runners.

• #4 CURLY RUTH (7-2) appears to be a major player in this race. She one has the top overall power rating in the group.
• #1 PASS THE PLATE (5-2) will be rolling late and has a good closing kick that could get the job done here. This one shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/16 mile distance.
• #6 PARK AVENUE (2-1) runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here. This one has races fast enough to win here.

• #3 ARTORIUS (5-2) has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here. This one projects to sit mid pack and come with one run.
