Oklahoma Classics Friday Analysis From Remington Park

This Friday Remington Park will run its Oklahoma Classics card. It is a real rarity as every single one of the 10 races is a stakes race.
Remington Park
Remington Park is widely considered a mid tier track. It does not often conduct races for the top graded stakes horses in the country, but does provide a quality product with healthy pools that can provide good value back to the players.
Perhaps the track’s greatest claim to fame is being the home track of Steve Asmussen. The trainer broke the all-time record for North American wins by a trainer this past summer. Many of his record breaking wins came at Remington Park where he frequently crushes the trainer.
Under the Lights at Remington Park
Remington is unique in a number of ways. One of the things that sets it apart is the late post times that they have. Only a handful of tracks around the country have lighting systems. The inclusion of lights make Remington Park part of a small contingent of tracks that even have the ability race into the night.
This often means that when players are coming home from a long day of work, Remington Park is one of the few horse racing options available.
Dual Seasons
While Friday’s card is part of the thoroughbred meet at Remington Park, the track also runs other races during the year. Oklahoma grants the track two separate meets worth of racing days. The first is the quarter horse meet where horses run just the length of the stretch. The second, which is currently running is the thoroughbred meet.
Oklahoma Classics Analysis from Remington Park
Race 1- Start of the Remington Park Early Pick 5
Post: 7:07 PM CT; Purse: $40,000 Oklahoma Classics Filly and Mare Starter S., 7 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 8
#5 KEENA is the 2nd choice on the morning line and looks to have an edge in speed and class. #1 JUSTABOUTRIGHT looks to get the best run of the race here. #6 SNOWTRICK is favored based on recent form. #2 SHEZA HOT FLASH is an interesting longshot to spice up exotics payouts.
Selections: 5-1-6-2
Race 2
Post: 7:36 PM CT; Purse: $145,000 Oklahoma Classics Distaff S., 1 Mile 70 Yards on Dirt; Entries: 8
#8 LADY ORCHID is at odds of 3-1 has the best speed figures in the group and should have a pace edge on the competition. #2 SHE'S ALL WOLFE is a reasonable favor based on the company she’s been keeping. #1 DIPPING IN will look to get the perfect setup to pull the minor upset. #6 OKIE QUEEN gets “Luis Q” in the saddle and could provide value at 8-1.
Selections: 8-2-1-6
Race 3
Post: 8:05 PM CT; Purse: $130,000 Oklahoma Classics Sprint S., 6 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 8
#8 WELDER towers over this field and should be confidently handled by David Cabrera. Other interesting players are #1 FAST BREAKIN CASH (5-1), #7 MESA MOON (9-2) , and #3 EUROMANTIC. However, this race appears to go squarely through the #8 who may be one of the shortest prices on the Remington Park card.
Selections: 8-1-7-3 (Best Bet: #8)
Race 4
Post: 8:34 PM CT; Purse: $130,000 Oklahoma Classics Distaff Turf S., 1 1/16 Miles on Turf; Entries: 9
#9 ALTERNATIVE SLEW has speed figures and class that make her a major player here. #1 COUNTRY DAISY comes into the race well and should be competitive. #5 HAWAIIAN TYPHOON and #7 RUN SLEWPY RUN are also contenders based on the runners they’ve been facing lately.
Selections: 9-1-5-7
Race 5
Post: 9:04 PM CT; Purse: $100,000 Oklahoma Classics Lassie S., 6 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 11
#7 FRECCIA D'ARGENTO looks good on paper and draws inside of the morning line favorite. #11 HITS PRICEY LEGACY is the class of the field, but will have to overcome a wide post. #2 MORNING TWILIGHT goes out for Steve Asmussen at a fat price and should be respected. #5 SMOKIN' OKIE rounds out the top selections under the piloting of David Cabrera.
Selections: 7-11-2-5
Race 6
Post: 9:32 PM CT; Purse: $175,000 Oklahoma Classics Cup S., 1 1/16 Miles on Dirt; Entries: 6
The Remington Park card looks pretty chalky up to this point, but I like an upset in this race. #2 DONT TELL NOOBODY is at odds of 5-1 and combines top speed figures with good recent class. #1 ABSAROKA is the 8-5 2nd choice on the morning line and could have the stamina to outlast these runners. #4 UNITED PATRIOT at 20-1 seems like a bargain if he can get on the lead and carry them around. #6 NUMBER ONE DUDE is the favorite and has proven himself at the record. The argument could also be made that this is the one in the group that is likely to keep progressing forward.
Selections: 2-1-4-6
Race 7- Start of the Remington Park Late Pick 4
Post: 10:01 PM CT; Purse: $100,000 Oklahoma Classics Juvenile S., 6 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 13
#11 BLUESKIESANDANGELS is an interesting horse at 6-1. The horse has good class figures and could be a significant pace presence. #5 LEGIONARY has speed figures that make him dangerous early in his career. #6 CUATRO MADRES is bred to love today’s conditions. As an interesting underneath long shot I like #10 JOE BILL.
Selections: 11-5-6-10
Race 8
Post: 10:33 PM CT; Purse: $130,000 Oklahoma Classics Distaff Sprint S., 6 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 10
In a wide open race I prefer #8 OUR MUSICAL MOMENT who is 8-1 but goes out for top connections. #2 SWEET MARY M has the top speed numbers in the group. Favored #3 SUNDAY FLASHBACK has proven she can win at the distance. #5 MACHOS VISION is a huge price and may have the most left in the tank at the end of the race.
Selections: 8-2-3-5
Race 9
Post: 11:05 PM CT; Purse: $130,000 OKC Turf Classic S., 1 1/16 Miles on Turf; Entries: 11
In the penultimate race from Remington Park I like #4 QUARKY who looks really good on paper for Karl Broberg. #11 QUALITY ROCKET is the favorite, but doesn’t stand out on numbers. Couple that with the outside post and this one seems a bit too vulnerable to be the favorite. #10 HALF OURS TO KEEP is the other Broberg and gets Elliot in the saddle. #5 SWEET MEDICINE is a price horse that shouldn’t be overlooked in this spot.
Selections: 4-11-10-5
Race 10
Post: 11:37 PM CT; Purse: $40,000 Oklahoma Classics Starter S., 7 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 14
With some longer prices earlier in the sequence, I landed on the favorite #6 POMEROY HAZE in the finale from Remington Park. The old pro looks to get a perfect setup here. #8 ROCKPORT KAT is another major player who has done little wrong of late. #9 FRANKLYENERGIZED is a longshot who has speed figures that make him a reasonable winner in this spot. #11 COVINGTON QUALITY is a great underneath option at 15-1.
Selections: 6-8-9-11
