Saratoga Wednesday: Tale of the Cat Stakes Wide Open On Paper

The first stakes race of the week at Saratoga will be the Tale of the Cat. The race features a 7/5 favorite in Southern District, but appears to have a lot of wagering opportunity.
Saratoga- Race 1
Post: 1:05 PM ET; $70k Allowance going 2 1/16 miles on hurdle; Entries: 7
- #1 TAKE PROFIT (4-1) gets the top selection. He appears to have the stamina here.
- #6 STATE OF AFFAIR (6-1) has the top overall power rating in the group.
- #3 GREY GIANT (5-1) has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
- #5 BALTIMORE KID (5-2) has to be respected going out for the combination of Brion and Hendriks.
Selections: 1 – 6 – 3 – 5
Saratoga- Race 2
Post: 1:39 PM ET; $40k Maiden Claiming going 7 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 7
- #5 DRINK THE WIND (1-1) is the top pick. He has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot.
- #3 OFFUTT COLE (5-2) has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed.
- #4 READYSEEKGO (5-1) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.
- #1 PRINCE OF FENTON (6-1) has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.

Saratoga- Race 3
Post: 2:13 PM ET; $88k Maiden Special Weight going 5 1/2 furlongs on turf; Entries: 13
- #9 MAKAR (9-2) should improve off the first start and looks best here. This one projects to sit mid pack and come with one run.
- #3 GENERAL BANKER (7-2) will likely be out on or near the lead and will look to hold off the charge to the wire. This one could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
- #2 M. C. DOUBLE R (8-1) should be part of the early pace in this spot.
- #4 CONMAN (4-1) has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.

Saratoga- Race 4
Post: 2:49 PM ET; $120k Allowance Optional Claiming going 6 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 6
- #1 MONTAUK DADDY (5-1) gets the top selection for the combination of Noda and Ortiz.
- #3 MEXICAN WONDER BOY (2-1) has been good at these conditions in the past.
- #6 KINETIC SKY (9-2) projects to sit mid pack and come with one run.
- #2 HIGHER STANDARD (7-2) makes sense on speed figures.

Saratoga- Race 5
Post: 3:21 PM ET; $50k Claiming going 1 1/16 miles on turf; Entries: 13
- #10 SKYLANDER (4-1) is the top pick with the top overall power rating in the group.
- #9 INFLATION ADJUSTED (3-1) should be competitive in this spot. He has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
- #2 PARQUETRY (5-1) has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
- #5 TONAL IMPACT (8-1) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. He seems to fit well enough here.

Saratoga- Race 6
Post: 3:55 PM ET; $88k Maiden Special Weight going 6 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 14
- #11 IM JUST KIDDIN (2-1) should improve off the first start and looks best here and has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot.
- #1 LOVE MY CANDY (7-2) debuts here for Maker and Ortiz and is worth a look.
- #10 OUR ROSIE DIAMONDS (20-1) is a price horse and seems like the type that could outrun the odds.
- #5 BLANCHIMENT (12-1) is another long shot who isn’t without hope. This one feels like a stretch to win, but reasonable to hit the board.

Saratoga- Race 7
Post: 4:29 PM ET; $70k Starter Allowance going 5 1/2 furlongs on turf; Entries: 12
- #6 KING MOONRACER (4-1) gets the top selection. He shouldn't have trouble with the 5 1/2 furlong distance and comes into the race in really good form.
- #2 JUST SAY WHEN (5-2) has to be respected going out for the combination of Ward and Ortiz.
- #9 MONTATHAM (8-1) should be sitting in the second tier of runners and looking to make one well timed run at the leaders.
- #5 STARRYSTARRYKNIGHT (6-1) isn't without hope. He makes sense on speed figures.
Selections: 6 – 2 – 9 – 5
Saratoga- Race 8
Post: 5:05 PM ET; $135k Tale of the Cat S. going 7 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 5
- #5 MR PHIL (3-1) is the top pick. He has races good enough to beat this group. This one has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
- #4 REPO ROCKS (9-2) appears to be a major player in this race. He makes sense on speed figures and has been in really good form. The trainer change is a bit of a question mark.
- #3 SOUTHERN DISTRICT (7-5) should be competitive in this spot. This one has really consistent pace figures which should work well in a moderately paced race. The speed figures fit.
- #2 AWESOME GERRY (7-2) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late. This one shouldn't have trouble with the 7 furlong distance.
Selections: 5 – 4 – 3 – 2
Saratoga- Race 9
Post: 5:39 PM ET; $95k Allowance going 1 mile on turf; Entries: 14
- #3 WAR TERMINATOR (5-1) runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here.
- #8 FRONT LINE DANCER (7-2) the distance isn’t a concern and this one has the right run style for a turf route.
- #7 MR. KRINGLE (8-1) appears to be a major player in this race based on the recent company he’s kept.
- #11 TIMBUKTU (4-1) comes into the race in really good form. This one has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
Selections: 3 – 8 – 7 – 11
Saratoga- Race 10
Post: 6:13 PM ET; $105k Maiden Special Weight going 1 3/16 miles on turf; Entries: 9
- #3 REMOTE (6-1) gets the top selection. He shouldn't have trouble with the distance.
- #2 TIZ A GIANT (10-1) is a price horse and feels like a fringe contender in this spot. He projects to sit mid pack and come with one run.
- #8 MOST WANTED MAN (7-2) has to be respected going out for the combination of Brown and Ortiz.
- #7 RUNNING BEE (4-1) has races good enough to beat this group. This one could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end. These turf races can often be run very slow and may allow this one to stroll on the front.
