Test, Whitney Bring Small Fields, Star Power to Saratoga

The two graded Saratoga features only mustered a combined 13 entries. However, the Whitney in particular looks like a very deep race while the Test features a beast.

Saratoga- Race 1

Post: 12:35 PM ET; $105k Maiden Special Weight going 1 1/16 miles on turf; Entries: 7

• #2 ALEXIS ZORBA (5-2) gets the top selection. He shouldn't have trouble with the distance.
• #5 RED ROUTE ONE (5-2) debuts here and goes out for the combination of Asmussen and Rosario.
• #4 MULLINGAR (6-1) should improve off the first start and has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
• #1 TRACK MATE (8-1) is a first time starter and seems to be running for the minor placings in this contest.

Saratoga- Race 2

Post: 1:08 PM ET; $45k Maiden Claiming going 7 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 8

• #1 SCHOOL OF THOUGHT (6-1) is the top pick. She will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.
• #8 TEKILA (7-2) makes sense on speed figures. This one has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot.
• #5 MOSTLY HARMLESS (3-1) has kept decent company in the previous starts.
• #6 AFILADA (5-2) will likely have a lot to do in the lane, but could get up with a competitive run.

Saratoga- Race 3

Post: 1:44 PM ET; $100k Allowance Optional Claiming going 6 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 8

• #2 KHALI MAGIC (9-5) looks best here. She may benefit from a hot pace up front.
• #5 PRETTY CLEVER (10-1) is a price horse and feels like a fringe contender in this spot and makes sense on speed figures.
• #7 MOSIENKO (4-1) could get a very nice pace scenario in this race.
• #8 BEAUTIFUL KAREN (5-1) isn't without hope. She has to be respected going out for the combination of Rice and Ortiz.

• #4 FOUNDER (8-1) looks like upset prospect. He shouldn't have trouble with distance.
• #2 GOOD GOVERNANCE (6-5) has the top overall power rating in the group.
• #7 CASANOVA KITTEN (15-1) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.
• #1 EYES ON TARGET (2-1) makes a lot of sense on speed figures.

Saratoga- Race 5

• #8 SOMELIKEITHOTBROWN (5-2) looks to be the class of the field and will be winging on the front.
• #1 PUBLIC SECTOR (2-1) has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here. This one may benefit from a hot pace up front.
• #4 DUKE OF HAZZARD (6-1) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.
• #6 T D DANCE (15-1) is a price horse and is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. This one may benefit if things get cooking out front.

• #2 DISARM (5-2) should improve off the first start and looks best here.
• #3 PERFORM (7-2) should relish this middle sprint distance.
• #1A POINT PROVEN (2-1) debuts here for Todd Pletcher and is entered with another firster. Hard to know which is the one commanding the line.
• #1 CRUPI (2-1) goes out at first asking for Pletcher with Saez in the irons.

Saratoga- Race 7

Post: 3:58 PM ET; $250k Glens Falls S. going 1 1/2 miles on turf; Entries: 7

• #6 WAR LIKE GODDESS (1-2) gets the top selection. She looks to be the class of the field.
• #2 VIRGINIA JOY (5-2) goes out for Brown and Ortiz.
• #1 TEMPLE CITY TERROR (12-1) will likely have a lot to do in the lane, but could get up with a competitive run at a nice price.
• #4 FLANIGAN'S COVE (20-1) comes into the race in really good form.

Saratoga- Race 8

Post: 4:34 PM ET; $115k Allowance going 7 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 10

• #7 MONEY SUPPLY (9-2) has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
• #3 SCILLY CAY (10-1) projects to sit mid pack and come with one run.
• #5 FLUID SITUATION (8-1) appears to be a major player in this race. He makes sense on speed figures.
• #1 PERFECT MUNNINGS (15-1) has races good enough to beat this group.

Saratoga- Race 9

Post: 5:07 PM ET; $500k Longines Test S. going 7 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 7

• #1 MATAREYA (2-5) looks best here. She has the top overall power rating in the group and is all class.
• #2 STERLING SILVER (15-1) makes sense on speed figures.
• #5 NOVEMBER REIN (10-1) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late if she doesn’t get run off her feet.
• #3 ELM DRIVE (8-1) is in the ball park of the group that projects to fight for the minors.

Saratoga- Race 10

Post: 5:43 PM ET; $1000k Whitney S. going 1 1/8 miles on dirt; Entries: 6

• #6 LIFE IS GOOD (6-5) gets the top selection. He has to be respected going out for the combination of Pletcher and Ortiz. This one has been so good.
• #4 OLYMPIAD (2-1) goes out for Mott and Alvarado. This one will look to put his name in the conversation of the best classic horses in the country.
• #2 HOT ROD CHARLIE (9-2) seems to be an always a bridesmaid horse, but has a shot here.
• #1 AMERICANREVOLUTION (5-1) has speed figures that say yes, but he lacks the wow factor of his rivals in tough races.

Saratoga- Race 11

Post: 6:20 PM ET; $1000k Bovada Saratoga Derby Invitational S. going 1 3/16 miles on turf; Entries: 11

• #4 NATIONS PRIDE (7-2) is in good form and should be good with the distance.
• #6 ANNAPOLIS (5-2) has really consistent pace figures which should work well in a moderately paced race.
• #10 STONE AGE (9-2) runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here.
• #9 CLASSIC CAUSEWAY (8-1) has to be respected after the Belmont Derby. Hard to know if that was talent or fluke.

• #8 DREAMPOINT (8-1) may benefit from a hot pace at a big price.
• #2 YOUR MISSION (5-2) is in good form and has good speed figures.
• #3 CURLIN'S WISDOM (8-1) could be cycling up to a big run here.
• #1A URAGANO (10-1) shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/16 mile distance.
