Turfway Park Saturday: Valdale Synthetic Stakes Analysis

The Saturday feature is the Valdale Stakes. The race will be run at 6 and 1/2 furlongs on the unpredictable Turfway Park all weather track.

Turfway Park- Race 1

Post: 5:55 PM ET; $19k Maiden Claiming going 6 1/2 furlongs on all weather track; Entries: 11

• #9 QUEEN IN THE NORTH (9-5) gets the top selection. She has to be respected going out for the combination of Girten and Ramos.
• #4 SIMPLY COMPLICATED (3-1) has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here. This one could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
• #8 SLENDER BETSY (8-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. She will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.
• #5 LIL RED CLOUD (15-1) is one that could out run the odds. She will likely be out on or near the lead and will look to hold off the charge to the wire. This one has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed.

• #1 YONO (5-2) is the top pick. He shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/16 mile distance. This one has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
• #6 JAY VEE BEE (5-1) makes sense here. He looks to be the class of the field.
• #8 GUN RUSH (6-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. He makes sense on speed figures. This one will likely have a lot to do in the lane, but could get up with a competitive run.
• #5 KING SHAMAN (4-1) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late. This one has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.

• #4 JUULSTONE (5-2) appears to be a major player in this race. He has the top overall power rating in the group. This one projects to sit mid pack and come with one run.
• #8 ONE LAST HAND (7-2) looks to be a factor here. He could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end. This one makes sense on speed figures.
• #6 ARTIE'S LADY (20-1) is a price horse and is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. He has figures that fit. This one has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed.

• #6 SWEETS MAKER (8-1) could be in with a shot in this race. She seems to fit well enough here. This one is well bred for this spot.
• #3 VOTARY (30-1) is a price horse and could be in with a shot in this race. At 30-1 this one is the type to take a shot with as the race looks top heavy.

• #4 JILL JITTERBUG (15-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. She has been able to compete well at this level in the past.
