Final Week at Saratoga Starts With Anticipation: Wendesday Analysis

The final week at Saratoga kicks off with a steeplechase race and 9 flat races. The feature is the With Anticipation Stakes. The race is named for a lightly colored gray horse known for his extremely light coat.
Saratoga- Race 1
Post: 1:05 PM ET; $70k Allowance going 2 3/8 miles on hurdle; Entries: 8
- #1 BANDUA (2-1) has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed.
- #3 WHO'S COUNTING (6-1) shouldn't have trouble with the 2 3/8 mile distance.
- #6 BALTIMORE KID (7-2) has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
- #7 PROVEN INNOCENT (5-2) has run well on the American hurdle circuit and makes sense here.

Saratoga- Race 2

- #3 LAUGHTER (3-1) has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot.
- #1 DUCKPHAT (6-1) should be competitive in this spot. She makes sense on speed figures.
- #7 FROSTY INVASION (8-1) seems to fit well enough here.
- #2 MADDIE'S SURPRISE (5-1) should improve off the first start and is drawn well.

Post: 2:13 PM ET; $83k Maiden Special Weight going 5 1/2 furlongs on turf; Entries: 9
- #5 ROCK CHALK (5-2) should improve off the first start and has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot.
- #7 THREE ZERO (6-1) could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end. This one comes into the race in really good form.
- #3 CLOSETHEGAME SUGAR (4-1) debuts here for the combination of Rice and Ortiz.
- #2 WEBSLINGER (7-2) should improve off the debut and gets Saez in the irons which shows confidence from the trainer.

Post: 2:49 PM ET; $120k Allowance Optional Claiming going 1 mile on turf; Entries: 11
- #3 ZAINALARAB (5-2) gets the top selection. She makes sense on speed figures. This one should be sitting in the second tier of runners and looking to make one well timed run at the leaders.
- #4 NEVISIAN SUNRISE (2-1) appears to be a major player in this race. She has to be respected going out for the combination of Brown and Velazquez.
- #8 W W FITZY (5-2) has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
- #5 SCOTISH STAR (5-2) could be in with a shot in this race. She looks to be the class of the field.
Selections: 3 – 4 – 8 – 5
Saratoga- Race 5
Post: 3:21 PM ET; $32k Claiming going 1 1/8 miles on dirt; Entries: 8
- #4 WILL E SUTTON (7-5) is the top pick. He looks to be the class of the field. This one runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here.
- #1A FOREVER WICKED (6-1) should be competitive in this spot. He shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/8 mile distance.
- #2 CONVERTIBLE FREEZE (8-1) could be in with a shot in this race. He will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.
- #6 ROAD TO SUCCESS (2-1) has races good enough to beat this group.

Post: 3:55 PM ET; $50k Maiden Claiming going 1 mile on turf; Entries: 16
- #4 EAU CLAIRE (5-2) makes sense on speed figures. This one looks to be the class of the field.
- #5 SALS DREAM GIRL (2-1) should be competitive in this spot. She goes out for the Gargan barn and gets Prat in the irons.
- #7 WINE GODDESS (8-1) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. She will likely have a lot to do in the lane, but could get up with a competitive run.
- #10 CERRETTA (4-1) goes out for the Bond barn and gets Saez in the irons.

Post: 4:29 PM ET; $64k Claiming going 5 1/2 furlongs on turf; Entries: 7
- #6 SEVEN SCENTS (2-1) projects to sit mid pack and come with one run for Brad Cox.
- #1 SHIRAZ (8-1) goes out for the Maker barn and gets Saez in the irons. This one seems to fit well enough here.
- #4 XY SPEED (5-2) has tactical speed and can sit just off the leaders for a stalk and pounce trip. This one has the top overall power rating in the group.
- #7 NOT PHAR NOW (7-2) could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.

- #6 DOUBLE SHOT (2-1) will be rolling late and has a good closing kick that could get the job done here.
- #4 JOE DI BAGGIO (3-1) has tactical speed and can sit just off the leaders for a stalk and pounce trip.
- #7 DURKIN'S CALL (9-2) makes sense on speed figures.
- #3 BODEFLEX (7-2) has tactical speed and can sit just off the leaders for a stalk and pounce trip.

- #8 LACHAISE (5-1) should improve off the first start and looks best here. He has races good enough to beat this group. This one has the top overall power rating in the group.
- #9 OUR DREAM RYE'D (4-1) appears to be a major player in this race. He has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
- #11 DETERMINEDLY (6-1) should be competitive in this spot. The outside draw isn’t ideal but he’s been good thus far.
- #2 ANDTHEWINNERIS (5-1) should be competitive in this spot and makes sense on speed figures.

Post: 6:13 PM ET; $42k Maiden Claiming going 6 1/2 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 10
- #3 DEVIL BOY (5-2) could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end. This one has races good enough to beat this group.
- #8 BEACH BOY AL (9-2) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Weaver and Prat.
- #5 SINFUL DANCER (3-1) has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
- #10 BASIS RISK (5-1) should improve off the first start and shouldn't have trouble with the 6 1/2 furlong distance.
