Starting from January 1, residents of Iowa can grab a special promotional bonus being offered to them courtesy of DraftKings. This company is known for dishing out various promotions across the country, and this time it’s Iowa that’s being offered the chance to grab some free money when they sign up.
The Promotion Due to Legislative Changes
This is all due to legislative changes coming into effect at the start of 2021. At that point, it will be legal to register online and sign up for these kinds of companies, so clearly, DraftKings wants to mark that moment by giving residents the chance to land $50 each.
Chances are that they won’t be the only sportsbetting company that will be offering some kind of promotion thanks to changes in the law, but with DraftKings you do at least know that you have a huge company with multiple bets and ways to place those wagers across a variety of sporting markets.
How to Qualify
To get the bonus, you need to download their mobile sportsbook app. Also, you need to be in the state of Iowa and be at least 21 as those are the minimum legal requirements.
If you register even before January 1, then the money will be deposited into your account on that day. You then have seven days to use the bet on their website, but at the same time, it cannot be swapped for cash and cannot be returned. Aside from those couple of little things, you are free to use the money in any way you want.
Iowa is Going Big on Sportsbetting
Sportsbetting has been legal in Iowa for some time, but the change is that you had to register in person up until January 1. This will result in a huge increase in the size of the handle for the state, and considering the handle size for November was close to $90 million, then you can only guess the kind of figures that will be noted even by the end of January.
But here’s another stat that’s kind of important. Out of the $87.2 million handles, over 70% of that was from mobile betting. That’s because betting online wasn’t illegal aside from the actual registration part. Considering that has led to restricted numbers with registrations, then that handle figure becomes even more impressive.
DraftKings are Major Players in Sportsbetting
DraftKings is one of the major players when it comes to the sportsbetting industry. They regularly post among the highest handle figures in the various states where this form of gambling is allowed. They will often provide different promotions, so this is nothing new, but being handed $50 just for signing up is still impressive.
People in Iowa can go ahead and pre-register for this change in the law, and it takes minutes to complete the form on the DraftKings website. Do just check that you complete every section in order to qualify, and if you have previously been on their website and bet via their mobile app, then you will find you are unable to qualify for the promotion as it’s only for new players.
