The 2023 CFL season continues to roll on, bringing us one step closer to crowning this year’s Grey Cup Champions. That’s still several months away, though. Before we even get close to the playoffs, we must first make it through four exciting CFL Week 7 matchups.
The action begins Thursday as the lowly Edmonton Elks (0-6) take on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (4-2) at 8:30 p.m. ET. The excitement continues Friday as the East-leading Toronto Argonauts (4-0) do battle with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The first CFL matchup of the weekend pits the Saskatchewan Roughriders (3-2) head-to-head with the BC Lions (4-1) in a 7 p.m. ET showdown on Saturday. The festivities then conclude Sunday with a game between the Ottawa RedBlacks (2-3) and Calgary Stampeders (2-3).
The only time with a bye this week is none other than the Montreal Alouettes (2-3).
Here’s a look at BetOnline’s odds for the CFL Week 7 matchups, as well as a prediction and picks for each game.

CFL Week 7 Predictions and Picks
Elks vs. Blue Bombers Betting Odds and Prediction
- Spread: Edmonton Elks +14.5 (-110), Winnipeg Blue Bombers -14.5 (-110)
- Total: OVER 46.5 (-115), UNDER 46.5 (-105)
- Moneyline: Edmonton Elks +660, Winnipeg Blue Bombers -1000
The Elks’ search for their first win of the 2023 season doesn’t get any easier this week as they must travel to face the Blue Bombers. Edmonton dropped to 0-6 last week with a 37-29 loss to the Tiger-Cats at home and now returns to the road, where it’s only averaging 6.0 points per game with a minus-14 average scoring margin.
Meanwhile, the Blue Bombers are out for revenge after last week’s 31-28 loss to the RedBlacks. What’s embarrassing is that they were up 25-6 after three quarters, only to let Ottawa score 19 unanswered points in the fourth to force overtime before winning it in the extra frame.
With the Blue Bombers returning home and out for revenge, I see them picking up the CFL Week 7 victory. They’re better than the Elks up and down the field, especially considering that the latter has yet to score more than 12 points on the road this season.
Considering that the Blue Bombers have the West’s best offense (27 PPG) while the Elks own the worst defense (26.2 PPG), I’m confident with the over hitting as the best bet.
Prediction: Blue Bombers 34, Elks 17
Best Bet: Over 46.5 Points (-115)
Argonauts vs Tiger-Cats Betting Odds and Prediction
- Spread: Toronto Argonauts -7.5 (-120), Hamilton Tiger-Cats +7.5 (+100)
- Total: OVER 50 (-110), UNDER 50 (-110)
- Moneyline: Toronto Argonauts -370, Hamilton Tiger-Cats +300
The Argonauts head into the CFL Week 7 schedule as the league’s final remaining undefeated record. That flawless record stayed intact last week as the Argos pulled off a hard-fought 35-27 win over the Alouettes that saw Toronto quarterback Chad Kelly rack up 351 passing yards with three touchdowns to one interception.
The Tiger-Cats, on the other hand, are gunning for their third consecutive victory. They’re coming off a 37-29 victory over the Elks on the road, highlighted by running back James Butler’s 127-yard performance.
Even though the Tiger-Cats have won back-to-back outings, those wins came against the Elks and RedBlacks — two of the CFL’s worst teams. The Argonauts, who are 5-0 with a plus-14.8 average point differential, will bring a tougher test to the table.
At the end of the day, Toronto’s attack (38.8 PPG) will be too much for Hamilton to handle. The Ti-Cats surrendered the second-most passing yards per game (289.6), so I see Kelly and his receiving corps having no issue navigating the field.
Back the Argos to win this by a decent-sized margin.
Prediction: Argonauts 37, Tiger-Cats 28
Best Bet: Argonauts -7.5 (-120)
Roughriders vs Lions Betting Odds and Prediction
- Spread: Saskatchewan Roughriders +10 (-110), BC Lions -10 (-110)
- Total: OVER 45.5 (-110), UNDER 45.5 (-110)
- Moneyline: Saskatchewan Roughriders +360, BC Lions -450
The Roughriders are underdogs as they enter CFL Week 7 following last week’s 33-31 loss to the Stampeders due to a walk-off field goal. Saskatchewan has another obstacle to overcome this week with starting QB Trevor Harris being out with a knee injury, leaving backup Mason Fine to start. Fine has made two starts over his CFL career, going 72-of-111 in the pocket for 754 passing yards with three TDs and a trio of interceptions.
As for the Lions, they haven’t been in action since they’re 35-19 win over the Alouettes in Week 5. BC is the top team in the Western Division and is using defense to get the job done, allowing only 17 PPG. The Lions are also undefeated at home, where they’ve held two opponents to just 9.5 PPG.
If the Roughriders had Harris under center, I’d be more inclined to side with a closer game, but I don’t see that being the case. Fine is inexperienced and will struggle to solve the BC defense, leading to the Lions continuing their winning ways.
Prediction: Lions 28, Roughriders 16
Best Bet: Lions -10 (-110)
RedBlacks vs Stampeders Betting Odds and Prediction
- Spread: Ottawa RedBlacks +4.5 (-110), Calgary Stampeders -4.5 (-110)
- Total: OVER 45 (-110), UNDER 45 (-110)
- Moneyline: Ottawa RedBlacks +170, Calgary Stampeders -195
After a slow start to the campaign, the RedBlacks have won two of their last three games. They pulled off an upset at home last week, defeating the Blue Bombers 31-28. Ottawa trailed by as many as 19 points but still managed to have a comeback led by QB Dustin Crum not only threw for 261 yards but also rushed for another 103 yards with two touchdowns.
The Stampeders were also victorious last week, beating the Roughriders with the aforementioned buzzer-beating field goal. Calgary had lost back-to-back outings before that victory, leaving time to tell if the win was a fluke or if it can keep the positive vibes coming.
I’m going with the Stampeders to win this CFL Week 7 clash. They already proved that they can handle the RedBlacks, winning 26-15 in Canada’s capital back in Week 2. Even though a lot has changed since then, Calgary now has the home-field advantage, whereas 0-2 while averaging 12.5 PPG on the road.
These two teams aren’t exactly known for their offense, highlighted by the under being a combined 7-3 for them this season. In other words, don’t expect fireworks Sunday night.
Prediction: Stampeders 24, RedBlacks 19
Best Bet: Under 45 Total Points (-110)
