Tennessee vs Florida State College World Series Prediction & Picks (6/19): Vols Vie for Finals Berth

Recent College World Series history hasn’t been favorable for top national seeds. But #1 Tennessee is a mere three wins from a national title, and they will move within two with a win over #8 Florida State this afternoon in Omaha (3:00 pm ET, ESPN).
In 1999, the first season of the current NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament format, #1 Miami defeated #2 Florida State in a rivalry matchup for all the marbles in Omaha.
Since that year, no #1 overall seed has won the College World Series. And only twice has the top seed even reached the championship game or championship series, which was done by Texas in 2004 (lost to Cal State Fullerton in the championship series) and 2009 (lost to LSU in the championship series).
So, Tennessee is certainly up against some unfavorable history. But the Vols are in the right position to change that after winning their first two games in Omaha.
That includes a walk-off thriller against FSU last Friday, in which the Seminoles led 11-8 entering the bottom of the ninth but couldn’t shut the door.
The Noles have responded well to that heartbreaking defeat, eliminating ACC rivals Virginia and North Carolina in their two games since. With a win today, FSU will set up a chance to send another #1 seed home disappointed.

Tennessee vs Florida State Betting Analysis
In the first matchup between the Vols and Noles, FSU did almost everything right to put themselves in position to pull out the win.
They didn’t flinch when Tennessee took an early 4-1 lead, responding with eight runs in the third and fourth to take a 9-4 advantage. Then after the Vols struck back to pull within two, the Noles picked up two big insurance runs in the seventh to take an 11-7 lead.
However, they didn’t finish the job from there, and they have been in win-or-go-home mode since then.
But their performance did show that they can indeed beat Tennessee, and the bats up and down FSU’s lineup can do some serious damage.
Will we see as many runs as we did in the first matchup between these two teams? There’s every possibility that we do. Who will get the victory? Tennessee is the fresher team, but it’s hard not to ride with the dog here, especially with how close they came to the upset the first time around.
