Astros vs Rangers Sunday Night Baseball Prediction & Best Bets (4/7): Will Texas Torch Houston Again?

After winning their first World Series title last season, the Texas Rangers have started the 2024 season brightly. The same can’t be said for the Houston Astros, who are mired in a rut as they head into the third game of their four-game series in Arlington (7:00 pm ET, ESPN).

The Rangers (6-2) have won their first two series of the new season and will make it three in three with a win either tonight or in tomorrow night’s series finale at Globe Life Field.

The Astros (2-7) won two of three at home against the Toronto Blue Jays after suffering a four-game sweep at the hands of the New York Yankees, but their first road series of the season isn’t going well at all.

Over the first two games of the series, Texas has outscored Houston 17-4, winning 10-2 Friday and 7-2 yesterday.

Tonight, the reigning World Series champions have to solve Ronel Blanco, who returns to the mound following Monday’s no-hitter against the Blue Jays.

Astros vs Rangers Betting Analysis

At this juncture of the season, you don’t have the same information to work with as you will even in a month. By then, patterns may be emerging for individuals and teams.

But the Astros have been held to three or fewer runs in six of their seven losses, and in the first two games against the Rangers, Houston has been heavily outscored while being outhit 31-11.

That puts the onus on Blanco to pitch really well again, but even if he does so, will it be enough to help lift the Astros to a win?

If there is a positive for Houston at the plate, it is that they are hitting .292 against righties. That could be good news for tonight, given that Dunning has had some rough outings against the Astros in his career.

The problem is, however, that the Rangers are hitting .303 against RHP, .335 in five home games, and .320 in six night games.

So, it’s easy to like the Rangers to hold serve at home tonight, especially with some nice odds for the home team.
