There’s no denying that Monday night was an embarrassing one for the Blue Jays. In order to turn things around tonight, they must be better than they have been on the road.

The Blue Jays are an uninspiring 2-5 in their last seven away games and have now lost the last three in a row following yesterday’s defeat. Limiting the opposition’s runs has been difficult over that stretch, highlighted by their allowing 11 runs in a game on three occasions — including in the latest two outings.

Unfortunately for Toronto, Miami has been lethal at loanDepot in recent weeks. The Marlins head into tonight’s contest riding a seven-game winning streak at home. What’s even more impressive is how dominant Skip Schumaker’s club has looked during that time.

The Marlins have picked up their last seven home wins by winning those games by an average of 5.9 runs. They’re also averaging 7.9 runs scored per game over that run, which is bad news for a Blue Jays team that’s been held to two or fewer runs in four of its last five road games.

After going without a run on seven hits last night, the Blue Jays could have a tough time scoring again as Eury Perez takes the mound for the Marlins. He’s been a bright spot all season long, but his play has been taken to an even higher level over the last month or so.

In his three June starts, Perez is 2-0 with a 0.56 ERA after allowing just one run on 11 hits with 17 strikeouts over 16 innings of work. In fact, the 20-year-old phenom has only allowed one run in his past four starts and has won his last two appearances in Miami.

In other words, Yusei Kikuchi must be as effective as he can be. Although he struggled at times in May, Kikuchi has turned things around, going 1-0 with a 3.66 ERA in his last four starts, not allowing more than two runs in any of those contests. Having said that, he did allow at least one home run in each of those outings.

Nevertheless, the Marlins have been decent against left-handed pitchers this season. When it comes to facing lefties, Miami is tied for first in the MLB when it comes to batting average (.301), third in on-base percentage (.350), sixth in slugging percentage (.443), and is tied for the fourth-fewest strikeouts (124).

Another good Blue Jays vs Marlins bet is taking Luis Arraez to record 2+ hits at +180 odds. For starters, the infielder plays well against lefties, batting .420 with 21 hits in 14 games against southpaws. Secondly, he’s recorded multiple hits in six straight home games, which includes a pair of five-hit performances.
