The LA Dodgers (7-2) and Chicago Cubs (4-2) begin a three-game series when they collide at Wrigley Field for a 2:20 p.m. ET showdown on Friday, April 5.

The Dodgers just swept a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants, most recently winning 5-4 on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Cubs completed their three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies with a 9-8 win two nights ago.
Unsurprisingly, LA’s hot start has kept it as BetOnline’s +340 favorite to win the 2024 World Series. Meanwhile, Chicago sits at +3500 odds (T-13th) to go on a championship run.
So, who’ll open this series on the right note? Let’s delve into my Dodgers vs. Cubs MLB prediction and best bets to discuss that and also to find out where the best action is.

Dodgers vs Cubs Prediction & MLB Picks Today (4/5): Expect Fireworks in Chi-town
Both teams are red-hot as they enter this afternoon’s matchups riding matching four-game winning streaks. The Dodgers’ streak is filled with some close calls as three of those victories came by just one run. Meanwhile, the Cubs have used offense to find success, outscoring their last four foes 35-15 on aggregate.
Speaking of the Cubs, they’re a perfect 3-0 SU at Wrigley Field this season and have even won six straight home games dating back to the 2023 campaign. As for the Dodgers, they’ve spent the majority of the 2024 campaign at Dodger Stadium, only playing on the road during their Seoul Series with the San Diego Padres.
Having said that, the Dodgers have enjoyed playing in the Windy City, winning six of their last seven road games against the Cubs. LA scored at least six runs in each victory, leaving time to tell if that trend continues today.
The Dodgers are 6-1 SU in their last seven road games against the Cubs. Will that trend continue?
In fact, the Cubs have barely had any success against the Dodgers over the last few years. In the last 17 matchups between these historic clubs, Chicago only emerged victorious three times, showcasing just how one-sided this series has been lately.
All eyes will be on Dodgers starting pitcher Bobby Miller to help extend his team’s dominance. The former 2020 first-rounder — who’s celebrating his 25th birthday today — was phenomenal in his season debut vs. the St. Louis Cardinals on March 29, striking out 11 batters with only two hits allowed across six scoreless innings.
As for the Cubs, they need a better performance out of Kyle Hendricks. The former Cy Young finalist did not look good against the Texas Rangers last week, allowing five earned runs and two homers on nine hits while only pitching 3 2/3 innings.
It’s also worth noting that Hendricks has struggled to handle the Dodgers in recent years. He’s only won one of his last four starts against LA, pitching to a horrendous 7.11 ERA along the way.
Can Cubs RHP Kyle Hendricks finally break out of his slump against the Dodgers?
The Cubs may have the home-field advantage, but this is the Dodgers’ game to lose. Dave Roberts’ club has looked like a juggernaut to begin the campaign and I see that trend continuing in Chicago, where they’ve found a ton of recent success. Given how Hendricks looked on the mound last week, I expect the visitors to win big time.
I also recommend the Over on the 7.5-run total. After all, Over is 5-1 in LA’s last six games and 4-1 in Chicago’s five previous outings. Each of the last six Dodgers-Cubs games at Wrigley Field also finished with more than 7.5 runs, averaging a combined 10.0 runs per contest.
With two of the MLB’s top-five offenses present this afternoon, it’s fair to expect fireworks at Wrigley Field.

Best Dodgers vs Cubs MLB Player Prop (4/5)
There are plenty of solid Dodgers vs. Cubs prop bets to consider today, including taking Mookie Betts to record over 1.5 total bases.

Betts has been a base-gathering machine throughout the start of the 2024 campaign. The former AL MVP has amassed 36 total bases in his first nine games, averaging 4.0 TBs per outing while finishing with the Over seven times. He’s also finished with at least four TBs on six occasions.
Furthermore, Betts is averaging 2.3 TBs across his last 15 games against the Cubs and even racked up six when he last faced them on April 23, 2023.
