Dodgers vs Mets Game 5 Predictions & MLB Picks Today (10/18)
It turns out that the NLCS shifting to Citi Field hasn’t given the Mets any advantage.
The Dodgers won their second straight road game on Thursday, notching a 10-2 blowout win over the Mets in Game 4 to take a 3-1 series lead. Mookie Betts and Tommy Edman combined for six hits, a home run, and seven RBIs while four Los Angeles pitchers combined for the all-important victory.
If the Dodgers can win tonight, it would mark their fourth World Series appearance since 2017. Their last appearance took place in 2020, when they defeated the Tampa Bay Rays in six games to take home the franchise’s seventh title.
Needless to say, it will take a lot for the Mets to cut the series deficit to one. They’ve struggled to keep up with the Dodgers ever since the series moved to Queens, having been outscored 18-2 on aggregate in the last two games alone.
The Mets have struggled to limit the Dodgers’ offense throughout the 2024 NLCS.
The Mets have now lost seven of their last eight matchups with the Dodgers, further highlighting the improbability of a comeback. If that isn’t bad enough, New York is also 0-5 SU in its last five home games against Los Angeles.
The Mets are also struggling to stop the Dodgers’ best batters. Edman, Betts, Enrique Hernandez, and Max Muncy are all batting .333 or better to begin the series while Shohei Ohtani isn’t too far behind with a .286/.524/.714 slash line.
It’ll be up to Mets LHP David Peterson to slow down the opposition. Although the 29-year-old southpaw has yet to make a start this postseason, he’s pitched to a 2.08 ERA with five strikeouts across 8 2/3 innings thus far. At the same time, he did surrender three runs on four hits in 2 1/3 innings back in Game 1 of the NCLS.
As for the Dodgers, they’re sending RHP Jack Flaherty back to the mound. The former 2014 first-rounder stuck out six Mets batters across seven scoreless innings during LA’s series-opening victory, so look for him to try and pick up from where he left off.
Dodgers RHP Jack Flaherty pitched exceptionally well against the Mets in Game 1 of the NCLS.
It’s been a fun ride for the Mets, but that’s ending tonight with a Dodgers victory. Outside of Game 2, the NLCS has been as one-sided as can be and I don’t expect things to change. The Dodgers will win convincingly (again) before advancing to the World Series (yet again).
Let’s ride with the Dodgers on the run line before moving on to the prop pick of the night.

Best Dodgers vs Mets NLCS Game 5 Player Prop (10/18)
It’s a player prop that’s been working, so let’s go with Mookie Betts o0.5 runs + RBIs (-120) for the best Dodgers vs. Mets NLCS pick.
Betts has been extremely productive regarding this prop throughout the 2024 playoffs. The former AL MVP has amassed nine runs and 10 RBIs through nine postseason games, averaging 2.1 R + RBIs per game while finishing with the Over on all but two of those occasions. He’s also only missed on this prop just once in the NLCS thus far, highlighting just how much he’s had the Mets’ number.
In fact, the Over is 6-3 in his last nine encounters with New York, so backing this Betts bet is a no-brainer.
Best Dodgers vs. Mets Game 5 Prop Bet: Mookie Betts o0.5 Runs + RBIs (-120)
