Tuesday, May 28 marks the start of a four-game series between the LA Dodgers (33-22) and New York Mets (22-30) at Citi Field. It’s a doubleheader this evening after yesterday’s contest was postponed due to weather, with the festivities today’s festivities beginning at 4:10 p.m. ET.
Today’s game against Los Angeles (NL) has been postponed due to weather. The contest will be made up as part of a single admission doubleheader tomorrow, Tuesday, May 28, 2024, beginning at 4:10 p.m.https://t.co/sjd1U7Pvor

The Dodgers desperately need a win as they head into tonight’s showdown on a five-game losing streak. The Mets haven’t been playing well that either, though, improving to 4-12 SU in their last 16 games with Sunday’s 4-3 win over the San Francisco Giants.
Can LA finally put its losing ways in the rearview? Or will New York hand the visiting teams its sixth straight loss?
Let’s discuss those questions and today’s best MLB betting opportunities as we dive into my Dodgers vs. Mets predictions and best bets.

Dodgers vs Mets Predictions & MLB Picks Today (5/28)
After yesterday’s game was delayed, tonight’s doubleheader begins with this 4:10 p.m. ET clash. Both teams are starving for a victory, so it’ll be interesting to see which side ends up wanting it more.
The Dodgers’ five-game losing streak is, by far, their longest skid of the 2024 campaign. Their struggles stem from lackluster showings on both sides of the ball, proven by their being outscored 29-11 on aggregate during that stretch. It doesn’t help that they’ve been held to one or zero runs in three of the last four games.
At the same time, we already saw how the Mets are in the middle of their own skid. Unfortunately for them, playing at Citi Field doesn’t exactly provide an advantage. After all, New York is just 2-6 SU across its last eight home games while being outscored by 1.8 runs per contest.
It’s also worth noting that the Mets are only 2-5 SU in their last seven encounters with an NL West club whereas the Dodgers have won 10 straight games against NL East opponents.
The Dodgers are on a 10-game winning streak against NL East clubs.
Having said that, the Mets did get the upper hand over the Dodgers not too long ago. The NL teams clashed for a three-game series at Dodger Stadium last month as New York won two of the matchups. Having said that, LA picked up a massive 10-0 blowout win in the series finale.
The Mets also have to deal with Dodgers ace Tyler Glasnow, who has the fourth-best NL Cy Young odds (+750) on BetOnline. While the 30-year-old hurler is impressively 6-3 with a 3.09 ERA through 11 starts, he’s allowed seven runs across 10 innings in his last two appearances.
Meanwhile, New York is turning back to Tylor Megill. After missing nearly two months of action due to a shoulder injury, Megill returned to the Mets lineup on May 20, allowing two earned runs on four hits with seven strikeouts in a 3-1 loss to the Cleveland Guardians.
Dodgers RHP Tyler Glasnow could use a bounce-back performance this evening.
Even though luck hasn’t been on their side lately, I’m taking the Dodgers to win. They’re due for a bounce-back performance and I see that happening against a Mets team that hasn’t been great at home. Glasnow will return to former sooner rather than later, which could happen tonight if the Mets don’t get at him early.
With that in mind, I’ll also be taking LA to cover the run line. For starters, the Dodgers are 13-12 ATS on the road whereas the Mets are 10-17 ATS at Citi Field. Secondly, LA owns the 10th-best success rate when it comes to covering as the road favorite this season (52.2%).
With the Mets only covering in 46.2% of non-divisional matchups (24th), there’s a good chance that the Dodgers win by a decently sized margin.

Best Dodgers vs Mets MLB Player Prop (5/28)
When it comes to today’s Dodgers vs. Mets player props, I feel confident regarding Tyler Glasnow o7.5 total strikeouts (-121).

Glasnow enters tonight averaging an NL-best 11.7 strikeouts per nine innings. As for this prop, the former 2011 fifth-rounder is averaging 8.8 strikeouts in his last six appearances while finishing with the Over on this prop in five of those games. The Over is also 3-0 in his last three road appearances.
Additionally, Glasnow has made good on this prop in three straight games against the Mets, which includes racking up 10 Ks on April 21. In other words, how can you not like this prop?
