After splitting the first two games of their Interleague series, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox will meet in a Thursday afternoon rubber match.
On Tuesday night, six stellar innings by Michael Kopech led the way for the White Sox in a 4-0 shutout win, which was just the second time that the Dodgers have been shut out this season.
The NL West leaders responded well to that rare blanking, as Tony Gonsolin improved to 7-0 and Cody Bellinger, Will Smith, and Trea Turner each homered to account for all of the visitors’ runs in a 4-1 win.
In the series finale, Dodgers pitcher Tyler Anderson will look to take his record to 8-0 on the season, while White Sox hurler Dylan Cease will aim for a better outing after tying an unpleasant career high in his previous start.

Can Anderson Set a New Career High in Chicago?
Entering this season, his first with the Dodgers, Tyler Anderson’s career high for wins in a season was seven, set in 2018 with the Colorado Rockies and again last season across stints with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Seattle Mariners.
If Anderson can pick up the win in this matchup, he will set a new career high in wins in a season, just two months and nine starts into his stint with his fifth team in the last four seasons (Rockies, Giants, Pirates, Mariners, Dodgers).
Like his rotation mate Gonsolin, Anderson isn’t getting a lot of NL Cy Young Award love. That is understandable considering some of the names and reputations that are ahead of the duo, who both currently sit at +4500 to win the award (at BetOnline).
But that won’t carry on for much longer if he continues to shut down hitters like he has been. The 32-year-old has not allowed a single run in his last three starts and enters this matchup with a 26-inning scoreless streak.
Since allowing a season-high seven runs and ten hits against the Philadelphia Phillies on May 12, Anderson is 4-0 with a 0.67 ERA in four starts. In those four starts, he has allowed two runs, 20 hits, and one walk and struck out 26 in 27 innings.
Cease Looks to Corral Control Issues After Wild Outing Against Rays
Cease can be generous with the free passes at times, but he was in an especially giving mood this past Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays. He allowed only one hit and two unearned runs in 4.2 innings and struck out five, but he walked seven, tying a career-worst tally.
After allowing three or more walks a dozen times in 32 starts last season, Cease had done so three times in his first nine starts this season without allowing more than three. But in his start prior to Saturday’s start in St. Petersburg, he allowed four walks against the Cubs.
He didn’t get burned too badly for the walks against either the Cubs or Rays, as he received a no-decision in both games–both of which the White Sox won–but he can ill-afford to give away too many free passes or baserunners in any form against the Dodgers.
There is one notable positive when looking at the 26-year-old’s results and splits this season, however. He has been excellent overall in daytime starts, recording a 3-1 record and a 1.58 ERA in eight daytime starts.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction and Best Bets
Dodgers vs. White Sox Prediction: Dodgers to win
Dodgers vs. White Sox Best Bets: Dodgers ML (-120 at BetUS & BetMGM) & UNDER 8.5 (-110 at Bovada Sportsbook, MyBookie & BetMGM)
Anderson is 3-0 with a 1.63 ERA in five road appearances (four starts) this season, and he is seeking his second win in Chicago this season after picking up a win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field last month.
He is in the zone right now, and that will continue against the White Sox. It remains to be seen how long he stays hot, but last Friday’s start against the Mets–six shutout innings, three hits allowed, and five Ks (no walks) in a 6-1 win–might have quieted at least a few skeptics.
The White Sox have not fared well this season in the spot that they are in here, coming in 2-6 as a home underdog and 7-15 overall as an underdog. Their fortunes won’t improve in their series finale against the NL West leaders, who will head back to California for their rivalry showdown with the San Francisco Giants with a Windy City series win.
