See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe current series and season series between the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants is all nodded up. The Cardinals are coming off of a 4-0 shutout win on Saturday night which ended the Giants’ 6 game win streak.
Cardinals’ pitcher, Dakota Hudson, held the Giants to five hits in his 5 innings of work. He was only able to strike out two batters, but held San Francisco at bay for his third victory of the season.
With the shutout win, St. Louis has now recorded 6 shutouts this season. They only trail the Los Angeles Angels in that department.
Today’s game will feature two more pitchers with the ability to limit runs and strike out a dozen. Both teams are in the Top 10 in ERA this season. The two men who will take the hill this evening are a big part in that.
Carlos Rodón and Adam Wainwright have both seen success on the mound. They both have sub-4.00 ERAs and have limited walks. They are walking less than 3 batters for every 9 innings pitched. Having less runners on base has lowered each pitcher’s ERA and WHIP to elite levels.

Carlos Rodón’s Hot Start
Rodón has had a Cy Young caliber start to the 2022 campaign. Hee has an ERA under 2.00 and is striking out nearly 9 batters per start. He has 8 or more strikeouts in 5 of his first 6 starts.
In his last start against Colorado, he managed to whiff 12 batters and pick up his fourth win of the season. It was his sixth straight start of 5 innings or more to start the season.
Rodón has only allowed 7 runs to cross the plate in his time with the club this season. He has not given up a home run this year and his WHIP is under 1.00.
His hot start could get an even bigger boost on Sunday night if he can put together his 7th straight solid outing to start the season. His stuff is on point and he can strikeout the best of them when he is on his game.
San Francisco Giants vs. St. Louis Cardinals May 15 Prediction and Best Bets
Giants vs. Cardinals Prediction: Giants 4, Cardinals 2
Giants vs. Cardinals Best Bets: Giants -1.5 (+126 at BetOnline)
Although the Cardinals were able to put up a shutout win last night, I don’t see a repeat of that tonight. With the Giants sending Rodón to the hill, the Cardinals will have a harder time making solid contact and getting the ball into the outfield.
The Giants’ offense has had a history of putting up big numbers against St. Louis this season. 8 days ago they played this Cardinals team and scored 13 runs. The bats have exploded and they hold a good record on the road.
With solid pitching expected tonight, don’t expect 13 runs to be put up on the scoreboard. Lots of strikeouts and ground balls will make it difficult for the Cardinals to get on base early. For the Giants, they need to jump on Wainwright early to put pressure on the savvy veteran.
