The Red Sox are on the hunt for their third win in a row after defeating the Los Angeles Angels 5-4 on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Guardians are coming off an 8-7 victory over the New York Yankees that saw them tally three runs in the 10th inning to seal the deal.

All eyes will be on the Red Sox to see if they can continue finding home success. Before picking up back-to-back home victories against the Angels, the Red Sox had opened up the 2024 campaign with four consecutive losses at Fenway Park.

Having said that, Alex Cora’s club is now 84-84 SU at home dating back to the start of the 2022 MLB season. It’s never a good thing when a team’s ballpark becomes a neutral playing field.

Meanwhile, the Guardians haven’t had any issues playing away from home, boasting a 7-2 SU road record ahead of today’s festivities. A consistent offense has been the key behind that away success as Cleveland averages the sixth-most runs, seventh-most hits, fifth-best batting average, and sixth-fewest strikeouts on the road this year.

Additionally, the Guardians are on a four-game winning streak on the road, having outscored those opponents 20-5 on aggregate.

The Guardians have been one of the best teams on the road to begin the 2024 season. 

The 2023 series between these American League teams was even as Cleveland and Boston split the six games. Having said that, it’s been the Red Sox who are now 13-7 SU across their last 20 matchups against the Guardians, which includes winning the two most recent clashes at Fenway Park.

The Red Sox also have the benefit of being 7-2 SU in their nine previous outings as the favorite, however, the Guardians are a perfect 4-0 SU as road underdogs in 2024.

If Cleveland wants to continue that trend, Xzavion Curry must pitch well in his season debut. The former 2019 seventh-rounder began the year with Triple-A Columbus, pitching to a 1.29 ERA with eight strikeouts in seven innings across a pair of starts.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox hope that Kutter Crawford maintains his impressive start. The 28-year-old veteran has been one of Boston’s best hurlers thus far, recording a 0.57 ERA while averaging 10.3 strikeouts per nine innings in his first three starts of the year. Is it sustainable? Only time will tell.

As solid as the Guardians have been, I’m going with the Red Sox on Monday morning. With it being One Boston Day, the Red Sox will be motivated more than ever to send their crowd home happy. It’s also difficult to trust Curry when we haven’t seen him pitch at the MLB level this season.

With that in mind, let’s take the Red Sox on the moneyline, too. Again, Boston is 7-2 SU in its last nine games as the favorite and has gotten the better of Cleveland over the last few years. As long as Crawford remains steady on the mound, the Red Sox are on the pathway to victory.
