See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe Minnesota Twins opened a three-game series against the rival Cleveland Guardians with a massive win on Monday night. Game 2 of the Guardians vs Twins series is slated for Tuesday at 7:40 p.m. ET, leaving time to tell if Cleveland can exact revenge on the road.
Last night’s meeting was chaotic as could be with the AL Central rivals combining for 10 runs in the second inning alone. Minnesota third baseman Royce Lewis did the brunt of the damage with his second grand slam in as many days as the Twins went on to win 10-6 over the Guardians.
Can the Guardians even the series tonight? Or will the Twins continue running away with the division lead?
Tonight’s Guardians vs Twins matchup also brings its fair share of betting opportunities to the table. Fortunately, Betting News has everything you need ahead of the action, including the latest odds and betting picks.

Guardians vs Twins Preview
This matchup is crucial when it comes to the AL Central race. Despite being eight games below .500, Cleveland is only seven games back of Minnesota for the lead. While that deficit isn’t easily surmountable, it’s still achievable given that there are five Guardians vs Twins matchups remaining on the schedule.
The season series between these rivals has been even thus far with the Guardians and Twins each winning four games apiece. Having said that, Cleveland is still 13-5 straight up in its last 18 meetings with Minnesota.
With that being said, the Guardians aren’t easy to trust as of late. They’ve had issues limiting their opponent’s scoring opportunities lately, surrendering seven-plus runs four times last five games.
With the Twins scoring an average of 7.5 runs in their last six outings, things won’t get any easier for the road team.
The good news for the Guardians is that starting pitcher Gavin Williams has been great this season, pitching to a 3.52 ERA while averaging 9.6 strikeouts per nine innings in 12 starts.
At the same time, Cleveland has constantly failed to support the rookie hurler. After all, the Guardians have been held to three or fewer runs in four of his five previous starts, averaging just 2.2 runs over that stretch.
Meanwhile, the Twins have had zero issues providing Pablo Lopez with run support, tallying a 7.3-run average in his last four outings.
It’s easy to play confidently behind the 27-year-old when he’s playing up to form. Lopez is perfect in August with a 4-0 record in five starts, tallying a 1.80 ERA while striking out 31 batters over 30 innings.
Lopez has a great opportunity to continue his success if Royce Lewis keeps up his hot streak. The talented 3B is slashing .310/.394/.759 with four home runs and 11 RBIs in his last seven games.
Guardians vs Twins Prediction and Picks
- Guardians vs Twins Prediction: Twins 5, Guardians 2
- Guardians vs Twins Picks: Twins -1.5 (Best Value: +135 on BetOnline ) & Royce Lewis Any Time Home Run (+550 on Bovada)
After last night’s convincing win, I’m taking the Twins to be victorious again. They play confidently behind Lopez, whereas the Guardians can’t get anything going when Williams takes to the mound.
Having said that, I do like the idea of the Twins covering the spread. Minnesota is 6-2 ATS in its last eight home games, whereas Cleveland is 8-10 ATS on the road against the AL Central this season.
The Guardians are also allowing a lot of runs lately, so keeping things close will be tough.
As for a Guardians vs Twins player prop I like, I’m going with Royce Lewis hitting another home run (+550). He’s racked up four round-trippers in his last six games and doesn’t appear to be slowing down with back-to-back grand slams.
Let’s ride the hot hand and hope for the best.
