See Picks & Statistics For The GameOut in the desert tonight, the Angels and Diamondbacks finish this three game series, and right now things are all tied up. After winning the first game at home, 9-4, the Snakes slipped up last night allowing the Angels to score 8 runs while they only mustered up 3 of their own, losing at home.
Los Angeles actually had a 7-0 lead by the end of the 4th, and eventually led 8 to nothing. The Diamondbacks scored a few runs in the final two innings but couldn’t get it done. Tonight, it’s all tied up at 1 game a piece, and with this being the 3rd and final meeting between these teams this year, both should be all out trying to come away with a win.
We’ve got a couple righties on the bump tonight, and I’ve got a couple best bets so lets dive right in!

Can Angels Bats Stay Hot without Ward?
Even though the Angels leader in Home Runs and RBIs got injured in Game 1, Los Angeles still put up 8 runs on the Diamondbacks last night. The bats came alive and were able to even up the series. Now we’ve got two righties on the bump with inflated ERAs.
Griffin Canning has lost 2 straight games and has allowed earned runs in all but 1 of his starts this season. He throws his low velocity fastball over 30% of the time and gives up tons of hard contact. Plus he’s got a terrible matchup today. The Diamondbacks have 2 elite hitters and 4 others with a great matchup against Canning according to batters-box.com (Do NOT forget the hyphen).
While the Diamondbacks hit .249 overall and .253 at home, their numbers do drop down against RHP. Although tonight I think they are able to shell Canning for several runs. Canning has allowed a home run in 8/13 starts this year and in 4 of his L5. I trust the Snakes to produce some runs against this Angels starter.
As for the other side, Brandon Pfaadt is solid, but recently, it’s been bad.
In his last 4 starts, which have all been on the road, Pfaadt has allowed 15 total runs and 24 hits. In his most recent start in San Diego, he allowed 3 home runs and 9 total hits in just 5.1 innings in a loss. Pfaadt has 1 home win all season long, his very first start back in March against the Rockies. The Angels offense showed they aren’t going to slow down, and with Pfaadt having it rough recently, it wouldn’t surprise me if we see runs in the desert.
Los Angeles Angels vs Arizona Diamondbacks Best Bets
Best Bet: Diamondbacks -1.5 (+118) BetOnline
I’ve got a couple picks in this one, starting with the Snakes. Ultimately, I think the Diamondbacks are a much better team than the Angels, and I see LA feeling the hurt of missing Ward tonight. The Angels bats drop a bit against RHP, but that didn’t happen at all yesterday. Regardless, I think we see plenty of runs in this one, and the Diamondbacks should have more than enough chances to cover this line.
At home in the desert, the Diamondbacks need to keep up with the other NL West squads. A win tonight keeps them on track, and they are 7-4 in their L11 games. I’ll take them by 2 tonight for these odds, plus we’re betting for runs in general.
Bonus Bet: LAA/AZ Over 8.5 (-115) BetOnline
Angels and Diamondbacks just screams over to me. Especially with these two dudes on the mound. They both have ERAs north of 4.50, and both games of this series have had no problem going over this total. Arizona ranks 9th in the league in runs scored but they are also 6th in runs allowed as well, right behind the Angels, who have allowed the 4th most runs in the MLB this season.
Don’t overthink it, just bet the Diamondbacks and the over.
