Mariners vs Angel Series Preview
These division rivals have only played one series so far, and it was the second series of the season. The Mariners were able to take 2 of 3 games at home against the Angels.
We saw plenty of offense in that series, with the run totals ending at 10, 13, and 7 respectively.
Will that trend continue tonight?
We’ve got a great pitching battle on the mound, and some fantastic bats in the dugout.
Let’s get into it for some Friday Night Baseball Action!

Mariners vs Angels Prediction
We get the privilege of seeing double of Mr. Shohei Ohtani tonight as he will start on the mound for the Halos and also serve as their DH.
He typically bats either leadoff or 2nd in the order, so he will see the plate plenty. Ohtani already pitched against this Mariners lineup, where he struck out 8 batters in 6 innings. He allowed just 1 run on 3 hits, and only gave up 4 walks.
It was a solid outing in Seattle, and today he pitches at home.
Luis Castillo takes the bump for Seattle. He is coming off a brutal loss last Friday night. Against the tough Rangers in Texas, Castillo pitched 7 incredible innings. He gave up 1 earned run on 5 hits, while striking out 6 batters and only allowing 1 walk.
Unfortunately, he did not get any help from his offense as the Mariners bats were shutout.
Will Castillo get the run support he needs? Or will Ohtani have a masterclass from both sides of the plate?
Personally, I think we see a pitching battle and a very low scoring game.
Mariners vs Angels Best Bets
SEA/LAA Under 7.5 (-115)
Last night this number was at 7 most places, and now it’s pretty much 7.5 everywhere. Money must be coming in on the over due to the previous series between these teams.
I expect these two pitchers to duel, and keep it a low scoring game. Both pitchers have had solid seasons, they have respectable ERAs and they both look to strikeout hitters.
Both Castillo and Ohtani average more than 1 K/Inning.
Ohtani averages 2.4 Ks/Inning. He is 3rd in the MLB in Total Strikeouts.
Bonus Bet: Mariners ML (+116)
This is the best number I’m finding for the M’s, and I’ll definitely take them in this spot.
The Angels played a game last night, while the Mariners had a whole day off.
The Mariners are 8-2 this season following an off day. Yes, both of their losses were on the road, but I think they could catch the Angels off guard and maybe a bit tired.
Player Props
Shohei Ohtani over 7.5 Ks (-135)
Ohtani is a pitcher that simply likes to strikeout batters.
He’s cleared 8 Ks in 7 of 12 games this year, while posting 6 or 7 three separate times. As stated above, he averages 2.4 Ks per inning, and had 8 in 6 innings last start against the Mariners.
Ohtani has had double digits strikeouts four times this year, and I think he could do it again tonight.
I’ll target Ohtani K’s for a ladder, as the Mariners rank 2nd in K% against RHP.
Here’s what I’m thinking.
- Ohtani 8+ Ks (-135)
- Ohtani 9+Ks (+134)
- Ohtani 10+ Ks (+240)
Let’s see if it pays off.
