Orioles vs Blue Jays Predictions & MLB Picks Today (6/3)

A win this evening is crucial for both clubs if they hope to improve their postseason odds. The Orioles head into tonight’s matchup trailing the New York Yankees by three games for the AL East lead while the Blue Jays are 4.5 games back of the American League’s third and final wild-card spot.

The Orioles have been one of the better AL clubs throughout the 2024 season and their latest stretch solidifies that fact. They’re a solid 8-2 SU across their last 10 games, outscoring those opponents by an average of 2.2 runs per game. That’s without mentioning how they’re also riding a four-game winning streak on the road.

The Blue Jays left much to be desired to begin the campaign, but they’ve slowly begun to turn things around with a decent 9-5 SU across in their last 14 outings. Having said that, each of those victories came against clubs who own a losing record as of Monday.

When it comes to divisional matchups this season, the O’s are 11-4 SU against the AL East thus far while the Blue Jays are only 7-8 SU.

The Blue Jays haven’t had much luck against the AL East during the 2024 MLB season. 

It’s also the second Orioles vs. Blue Jays series of the season after the rivals previously met last month for a three-game meeting. They only managed to play two of those tilts due to weather postponing the third as Toronto and Baltimore each ended up notching a 3-2 victory.

Having said that, the Orioles love playing north of the border. They own a one-sided 7-1 SU record across their last eight trips to Rogers Centre, outscoring the Blue Jays 49-24 on aggregate along the way.

Baltimore is turning to right-handed starter Grayson Rodriguez for tonight’s bout. While the 24-year-old is 5-2 with a 3.53 ERA and 10.8 strikeouts per nine innings through nine starts this season, he’s 0-1 with a 4.32 ERA in three career meetings with the Blue Jays.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jays are rolling with Kevin Gausman, who’s allowed just two earned runs with 13 strikeouts in his last 12 innings on the mound. Unfortunately, the two-time MLB All-Star is 1-3 with a 4.61 ERA in five games against the O’s since leaving the franchise six years ago.

While both teams have played well lately, I’m taking the Orioles to win on the road. Not only is Baltimore a solid 16-8 SU on the road this season, but it has clearly proven that it knows how to win in Toronto. The Blue Jays haven’t beaten a good team in what feels like forever and they aren’t exactly trustworthy with a  14-13 SU record at home so far.

I’ll stick with an Orioles outright bet at the end of the day. There’s some decent value to be had at -110 odds, so let’s look it in while they’re still favorable.

Best Orioles vs Blue Jays MLB Player Prop (6/3)

After skimming through the various Orioles vs. Blue Jays player props, I’ve decided to go with Grayson Rodriguez o6.5 total strikeouts (-107).

When it comes to this prop, Rodriguez has finished with the Over in six of his first nine starts (66.7%) of the season. Not only has the ex-2018 first-rounder tallied seven or more strikeouts in each of his last three games (8.0 Ks per contest), but the Over is also 3-1 through his first four road appearances.

Although the Blue Jays haven’t been striking out a lot in 2024, they finished two of their last three games with 11-plus Ks. If Rodriguez can get rolling early on, making good on this prop won’t be an issue.
