Rays vs Tigers Predictions & MLB Picks Today (9/26)
After opening the series with a win, the Tigers further placed the Rays in a chokehold by notching a 7-1 win on Wednesday. Wenceel Perez and Parker Meadows each tallied home runs, helping put Detroit in a position to complete the sweep this afternoon.
The Rays have struggled to get anything going offensively in this series, having recorded two total runs on 10 combined hits. Meanwhile, last night’s outcome extended their win streak to four games while improving their record to 13-3 SU across their last 16 outings.
The back-to-back losses also cemented the fact that the Rays have officially been eliminated from MLB postseason contention. The Tigers, on the other hand, will be motivated to win again. They currently hold the American League’s final wild-card spot as they sit two games ahead of the Minnesota Twins.
In other words, the Tigers have a reason to win this game whereas the Rays will only be motivated to play the role of spoiler.
Will the Rays spoil the Tigers’ chances of making the playoffs by pulling off an upset?
As the Rays look for a potential upset, they’re sending LHP Tyler Alexander to the mound. The 30-year-old southpaw made his first start in nearly a month on Sept. 20, pitching 4 1/3 scoreless innings with six strikeouts in a 1-0 win for Tampa Bay over the Toronto Blue Jays.
On the flip side, Alexander has been brutal on the road recently. He’s pitched to a 6.50 ERA in his last four away appearances after surrendering 15 earned runs and five homers in only 18 innings.
Let’s also not forget that the Tigers are a solid 19-12 SU against left-hand pitchers in 2024.
Speaking of Detroit, RHP Reese Olson will draw the start for the home team. The second-year pro has been quite consistent throughout the last couple of months, going 3-0 with a 3.13 ERA in his last eight starts.
Tigers RHP Reese Olson hasn’t lost a start since June 12.
Based on how this series has unfolded thus far, it’s a no-brainer to pick the Tigers to win this afternoon. Detroit has outplayed Tampa Bay on both sides of the ball and will be motivated to inch close to locking up a playoff spot with another victory.
With that in mind, take the Tigers to cover the run line considering that they’ve already outscored the Rays by an average of 3.5 runs per game. Additionally, Detroit boasts a plus-2.4 average run margin in Olson’s last seven starts.

Best Rays vs Tigers MLB Player Prop (9/26)
When it comes to today’s best Rays vs. Tigers MLB player prop, I have my sights set on Parker Meadows to record at least one hit (-132).
After an incredibly slow start to the 2024 campaign, Meadows has turned things around since mid-August. The 24-year-old centerfielder is slashing .276/.328/.496 with 34 hits, six doubles, three triples, and five home runs in his last 30 games (123 at-bats). He pulled came through regarding this prop in 22 of those appearances (73.3%) — including when he finished yesterday’s meeting with three hits.
With 17 hits in his last 14 home games, Meadows is on track to nail this prop again.
Best Rays vs. Tigers Prop Bet: Parker Meadows to Record 1+ Hit (-132)
