See Picks & Statistics For The GameTonight, the Boston Red Sox will look to keep their hot streak going and wrap up a road series win over the free-falling Los Angeles Angels.
Last night, Boston pulled out a 6-5 win in 10 innings, picking up their sixth straight win and their 19th in 27 games. One month ago, they were 10-19 and seemingly headed towards being a non-factor in the MLB playoff race. But with wins in the first two games of their series in Anaheim, Boston is two games over .500 and currently occupy the third AL wild-card spot.
The Angels, meanwhile, fired manager Joe Maddon yesterday after going from 10 games over .500 to under .500 in the span of a few weeks. But the change didn’t bring a change in their fortunes, as they dropped their 13th straight game last night.
Whose streak will come to an end tonight at Angel Stadium?

Can Eovaldi Continue His Recent Surge?
Last season, Nathan Eovaldi finished fourth in AL Cy Young Award voting. In that campaign, he allowed just 15 homers in 32 starts and 182.1 innings pitched.
This season, he has already allowed 16 homers in 11 starts and 63.1 innings.
But numbers have been trending positively for Eovaldi since he allowed nine runs and five homers in just 1.2 innings at Houston on May 17.
In the three starts since, the 32-year-old is 2-0 with a 1.66 ERA, has allowed just 15 hits and three walks, and struck out 25. He has given up only two homers in those three starts, and last time out, he went without allowing a homer for only the second time all season.
It is no surprise then that Boston has won all three of those games. It also doesn’t hurt that the bats have backed up his efforts. The start against the Astros was part of a six-start stretch in which he got just 14 runs of support. In his three most recent starts, the Sox have scored 20 runs.
Boston was limited to only one run in Monday’s series opener–which proved to be enough–but Tuesday’s six-run output was more in line with their recent offensive production.
In their first 29 games, the Red Sox scored five or more runs just eight times. But in their last 27 games, they have scored five or more runs 19 times.
If they hit that mark tonight, the outcome will likely be a winning one for the visiting team, as they are 18-1 in those 19 games. The lone loss is a 12-8 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on May 27, in which they led 8-2 entering the seventh but allowed ten unanswered runs over their final three frames.

Sometimes, everything just goes your way, and that is how it is for Boston right now. Similarly, sometimes everything just goes against you, and that’s where the Angels are right now.
The Angels are just 5-13 as an underdog this season, including 2-4 as a home underdog, while Boston is 7-3 as a road favorite this season.
