Twins, Brewers Set for Even Matchup

It’s hard to find a more event matchup today than this Twins vs. Brewers showdown. As mentioned before, Minnesota leads the AL Central while Milwaukee sits atop the NL Central. Only one victory separates both teams from having identical records as well.

On top of that, BetOnline Sportsbook is listing the Brewers as -116 favorites on the moneyline while the Twins sit at -102. Only a few other games today have odds that are that close on the ML, indicating that it’ll likely be a tight affair.

This also isn’t the first time that the two clubs have met this season. It was only two weeks ago that the two sides engaged in a two-game series at Target Field, resulting in the Brewers and Twins each winning a game. In fact, the final run total for the mini series was 7-7.

Their last meeting ended in a 4-1 walk-off victory for the Twins after Jose Mirando hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning.

The Twins are hoping that they can get another solid performance from Bundy on the mound. While the 29-year-old has won his last two starts, he’s given up seven runs on 11 hits in 10.1 innings, resulting in a 6.10 ERA over that stretch.

Meanwhile, Small is set to make his second start of the season after the Brewers recalled him from Triple-A on Monday. The rookie made his MLB debut on May 30 against the Chicago Cubs, giving up four hits, two runs and four walks before being pulled after just 2.2 innings. He’s played slightly better with Triple-A Nashville, going 6-4 in 15 starts with a 4.09 ERA and 1.239 WHIP.

In other news, the Twins will have Miguel Sano back from the 60-day injured list after he was sidelined at the end of April with a torn meniscus. The former All-Star first baseman was struggling before his injury, recording one HR and three RBIs while slashing .093/.231/.148 in 17 games.

When it comes to Milwaukee winning, the best bet is to take the Brewers at -116 on the moneyline. I also recommend taking the total to hit over 9.5 runs because of the fact that Bundy has allowed a lot of runs lately while Small didn’t look that great in his last MLB appearance.
