The Twins are turning to starting pitcher Bailey Ober in hopes that he can help make up for last night’s loss.

Fortunately, Ober has been solid throughout the 2023 campaign. The 27-year-old veteran is off to his best start yet, going 2-0 with a 1.85 ERA with a career-low 5.9 hits per nine innings in four appearances.

It’s also going to be a tough task for Ober to out-duel his counterpart, Dodgers superstar Clayton Kershaw. The veteran ace has been pitching like the three-time Cy Young winner that he is, tallying a 6-2 record, 2.36 ERA, and 0.946 WHIP over six starts thus far, proving that he gives Los Angeles a chance to win anytime he takes the mound.

The 2022 campaign saw Kershaw make his first-ever start against the Twins and it went more than well. The crafty southpaw took a perfect game into the seventh inning, striking out 13 batters along the way as the Dodgers walked out with the 7-0 victory.

Not only will facing Kershaw make things tough, but playing on the road has been challenging for the Twins this spring. They have a sub-.500 winning percentage on the road (.450) and have lost nine of their past 12 road games — including the last three in a row.

Making matters worse is the fact that the Twins have lost 10 consecutive encounters with the Dodgers following Monday’s loss. Furthermore, Los Angeles has also won seven straight home games against Minnesota, having not lost to the Twins at Dodgers Stadium since June 2005.
