See Picks & Statistics For The GameJust when it looked like things might start tightening up for the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central, they have gone and strengthened their grip on first place in the division.
Since back-to-back walk-off setbacks at the hands of the Cleveland Guardians last week, the Twins have won four of five, including the first two of their series in Chicago against the White Sox.
This afternoon, they will look to break out the brooms against the South Siders, who have not parlayed their weekend road sweep of the Giants into a positive start to this week.

Home Is Still Not Where the Wins Are for White Sox
As the All-Star break approaches, the White Sox have yet to operate with any consistency, unless you count their inconsistency as something that is consistent.
Last weekend’s sweep in San Francisco was one of their best series results of the season, but it was preceded by series losses to the Orioles (at home) and the Angels (on the road) and has been followed by a series loss against the Twins.
There are many issues that you can point out, but one of the biggest is how bad they have been at home. There are only 11 MLB teams who currently have a losing record at home, and only four of them have fewer home wins than the White Sox: the Nationals, Reds, Royals (all with 14 home wins), and Athletics (10).
When you rank 22nd in runs scored per game at home and dead last in runs allowed per game at home, the results are likely going to be, well, not good. And, well, they have not been.
The White Sox won their first two home series of the season, but they have won just one home series since.
Still, they are well within striking distance in the AL Central and in the AL wild-card race with half of the season left, so if things start to actually come together for a sustained period of time, they can easily find themselves in a much better position.
However, after losing 6-3 in 10 innings on Monday and 8-2 last night, things don’t look particularly promising for today’s series finale.
Notable 2022 Splits for Joe Ryan
- Away (five starts): 3-1, 2.67 ERA, 27 IP, 23 H, 8 R (8 ER), 24 K/5 BB, 1.04 WHIP, .228 OBA
- Day (five starts): 4-1, 2.33 ERA, 27 IP, 21 H, 7 R (7 ER), 22 K/6 BB, 1.00 WHIP, .212 OBA
Ryan has yet to face the White Sox this season, but he has pitched well against other AL Central teams thus far. In five starts, he is 4-0 with a 1.67 ERA and has allowed just five runs (all earned), 19 hits, and five walks and struck out 32 in 30.2 innings.
On the other side, Lynn pitched six shutout innings in a road win over the Giants last Friday, but he has allowed 11 runs (eight earned) and 10 hits in his two home starts this season.
Minnesota Twins vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction and Best Bets
Twins vs. White Sox Prediction: Twins to win
Twins vs. White Sox Best Bets: Twins ML (-103 at BetUS) & White Sox team total under 4 runs (-115 at BetOnline)
If you have been following along this season, you will know that I have put my faith in the White Sox on a regular basis. It panned out last time, but I am going the opposite route in this matchup.
The White Sox may be slightly favored, but little lines up in their favor here. Being at home should, but it doesn’t. Having an experienced and accomplished pitcher on the mound in Lynn should, but it doesn’t.
In five head-to-head meetings against the Twins this season, the White Sox have yet to win or score more than four runs, and the value lies in backing both of those things to continue in this matchup.
