See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe biggest game on today’s MLB schedule sees the Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles face off in the rubber game of their three-game series at Oriole Park.
After a 5-3 loss on Tuesday night, the White Sox bounced back by winning by the same score last night. Lucas Giolito had his best start since the All-Star break, and Baltimore native Gavin Sheets had three hits and three RBI to lead a 12-hit night for Chicago.
Will the Orioles have their fourth straight 5-3 game as they look to reclaim a 2.5-game lead over the Sox? A few more runs might be in the cards for tonight’s matchup.

Are Lynn & Lyles Likely to Struggle?
Lance Lynn was one of the league’s best pitchers in his first season in Chicago. But this season hasn’t gone according to plan, starting with missing the first two months after tearing his meniscus in Spring Training.
There are signs that the clouds could be clearing, however. He has pitched well in three of his four starts this month, and he goes into this matchup with consecutive solid starts for the first time this season.
Will that continue this afternoon in Baltimore? The White Sox have lost each of his last four road starts, and he allowed fewer than three runs for only the second time in six road starts this season last Friday against Cleveland. So, the whole body of work this season isn’t convincing even if recent results are encouraging.
The Orioles are 7-2 in Jordan Lyles’ last nine starts and have won each of his last five home starts, but he enters this start having allowed four runs and exited before five completed innings in back-to-back starts.
Percentages favor a good offensive output in tonight’s game. There have been eight or more runs nine times in Lynn’s 13 starts this season, while there have been eight or more runs six times in Lyles’ 11 home starts this season.
Additionally, there have been eight or more runs six times in Chicago’s last ten road games and eight times in Baltimore’s last ten home games.
Chicago White Sox vs. Baltimore Orioles Prediction and Picks
White Sox vs. Orioles Prediction: Orioles to win
White Sox vs. Orioles Picks: Orioles ML (Best Value: +104 at BetUS) & White Sox/Orioles over 8 (Best Value: -105 at Bovada Sportsbook)
No, that is not a typo. No, you don’t need a new pair of glasses. No, I did not hit my head.
Believe it or not, I am picking against the White Sox. Along with their excellent record in Lyles’ recent starts, the Orioles are 34-24 this season following a loss, including 11-4 in their last 15 games following a loss.
The Orioles are also 24-19 (.558) as a home underdog this season and have the second-best winning percentage of the 22 teams who have played 10 or more games as a home underdog.
As stubborn as I have been about backing the White Sox this season, I love the value with the Orioles here, along with the over.
That said, I also like Sheets to wrap up his return home with another multi-hit game (+290 at BetOnline at the time of writing). In addition to his three-hit game last night, he went 2 for 3 in Tuesday’s loss and is hitting .370 (17 for 46) this month with five doubles, a homer, and nine RBI.
