Yankees vs Royals Game 4 Predictions & MLB Picks Today (10/10)

The Yankees took one step closer to returning to the World Series with a 3-2 victory over the Royals in Game 3. It was a back-and-forth contest throughout the night until New York DH Giancarlo Stanton crushed a 417-foot home run in the top of the eighth inning to give the Yankees the one-run lead.

Time will tell if the Yankees can capitalize on that momentum given that neither side has won consecutive outings in the 2024 ALDS. Having said that, the Bronx Bombers are a promising 6-1 SU across their last seven road games whereas the Royals have dropped seven straight outings at Kauffman Stadium, playing to a minus-2.6 average run margin along the way.

With the crucial victory on Wednesday, the Yankees have also improved to 7-3 SU against the Royals in 2024, which includes a 4-0 SU record with a plus-4.5 average run margin in Kansas City.

Interestingly enough, Stanton has been the Yankees’ best player in those visits. The veteran slugger is slashing .500/.533/1.2124 with seven hits, three HRs, and six RBIs in 14 at-bats at Kauffman Stadium this season.

The Yankees have dominated the Royals on the road throughout the 2024 MLB season. 

If the Royals want to stay alive, they’ll need a big performance from RHP Michael Wacha. The former NLCS MVP struggled against the Yankees in Game 1, surrendering three earned runs on 70 pitches in just four innings of work.

Wacha is now 0-3 with a 13.20 ERA in his last five postseason appearances (15 innings), which showcases just how much his performance tends to decline in the fall.

Yankees RHP Gerrit Cole also struggled in Game 1 despite his team picking up the victory. He allowed four runs on seven hits across five innings before being replaced, exiting the game without a decision.

The good news for the Yankees and Cole is that he’s 2-1 with a 0.84 ERA in three career starts at Kauffman Stadium.

After recording the game-winning home run in Game 3, I’m going with Giancarlo Stanton 1+ Runs+ RBIs (-129) as the best Yankees vs. Royals ALDS Game 4 player prop.

For starters, Stanton has hit this prop in four of his last seven games, including twice to begin the ALDS. He’s also batting .324 in his last nine games (37 ABs) against the Royals, amassing four HRs, 10 RBIs, and six runs scored during that stretch. Furthermore, the 34-year-old DH finished with at least one run or RBI in six of those games — including a 3-0 record at Kauffman Stadium.

After Wacha imploded in Game 1, I expect Stanton to find a way to make his presence felt again tonight.
