The MLB has a handful of afternoon games lined up for Thursday, including the finale of a four-game series between the New York Yankees (49-21) and Kansas City Royals (39-30) at Kauffman Stadium.
The Yankees took one step closer to sweeping this series with yesterday’s 11-5 blowout win over the Royals. Giancarlo Stanton, Jose Trevino, and Gleyber Torres each tallied home runs for New York while Cody Poteet improved his record to 3-0 in the 2024 season.
Can New York complete the sweep? Or will Kansas City salvage the series with a win?
Let’s talk about my Yankees vs. Royals prediction and this afternoon’s best MLB bets as we dive into this article.

Yankees vs Royals Predictions & MLB Picks Today (6/12)
The Yankees are currently the No. 1 club in Major League Baseball and their dominance over the Royals in this series only solidifies that fact.
New York has outplayed, outperformed, and outgunned Kansas City since this series began. The Yankees have outscored the Royals 25-8 on aggregate thus far, which includes scoring at least 11 runs in the last two games. Their latest two wins came by a 7.5-run average, highlighting just how one-sided things have been.
Six Yankees are batting .300 or better in this series, including Jose Trevino with a team-high mark of .571. Even more impressive is that New York’s offense has been on another level despite Aaron Judge and Juan Soto having only combined for 16 at-bats through three games.
With yesterday’s loss, the Royals have now dropped to 1-4 SU in their last five games and 2-4 SU against their last six AL East opponents. Meanwhile, the Yankees are winners of 12 of their last 14 outings while improving to 14-3 SU across their latest 17 clashes with the Royals.
The Yankees have owned the Royals throughout the last few seasons, winning 14 of the last 17 meetings.
This series has also proven that having the home-field advantage means nothing for the Royals. The Yankees have proven to be road warriors, having won eight consecutive road games ahead of tonight’s clash. The Bronx Bombers averaged 6.9 runs in those victories while outscoring their opponents by 4.1 per game.
Even worse for the Royals is that they’ve dropped eight of their last 10 home games against the Yankees. New York scored five or more runs in six of those victories and even tallied 10 or more three times. Conversely, Kansas City couldn’t surpass the two-run mark six times.
We’ll see how the Royals perform against Nestor Cortez, who’s 3-5 with a 3.68 ERA and 1.116 WHIP through 14 starts. Although the New York lefty has been solid this season, Cortez is winless with a 6.17 ERA in seven road starts in 2024.
Meanwhile, the Yankees get to deal with Alec Marsh. Although the 26-year-old had a strong start to his second MLB campaign, he’s begun to unravel in his recent appearances, having allowed 17 earned runs, five homers, seven walks, and 24 hits across 23.0 innings in his last four starts.
Can Royals RHP Alec Marsh turn things around against the MLB-leading Yankees?
After how the first three games went, we’re taking the Yankees again. The Royals just aren’t on the same level as the Bronx Bombers and I doubt this game will be close, especially when you consider that the Yankees ranked up 21 runs in the last two outings alone.
With that in mind, let’s not overthink things. The Yankees will cover the run line before heading to Boston this weekend.

Best Yankees vs Royals MLB Player Prop (6/13)
After sifting through BetOnline’s various Yankees vs. Royals player props, I’m siding with Juan Soto to record at least two runs + RBIs (-103).
[su_icon icon="icon: check-circle" background="#F4F7FC" color="#2FBB9C" text_color="#1F2933" size="16" shape_size="4" radius="256" text_size="14" url="" margin="0"] $10 Cash Bonus with code "BNEWS" [/su_icon]

Soto has been electric this season, racking up 55 runs and 53 RBIs through his first 67 games. The three-time MLB All-Star has amassed 20 runs and 16 RBIs in his last 17 games alone (2.1 R + R per game) while slashing .346/.507/.782 and making good on this prop 10 times — including when he tallied three runs yesterday.
Having now made good on this prop on three of his last four trips to Kauffman Stadium, I’m confident in Soto’s ability to produce results again.
Best Yankees vs Royals MLB Prop Bet: Juan Soto to Record 2+ Runs/RBIs (-103)
