The New York Yankees will look to sweep the Minnesota Twins when they collide at Target Field for an afternoon clash on Thursday, May 16.

The Yankees took a 2-0 series lead with Wednesday’s 4-0 shutout victory over the Twins. Aaron Judge recorded his 11th home run of the season and a pair of RBIs while Marcus Stroman struck out a pair of batters across six runless innings.
Does New York have what it takes to complete the sweep? Or will Minnesota find a way to salvage at least one win out of this series?
Today’s Yankees vs. Twins showdown is also laced with MLB betting opportunities, so let’s check out some of them as we get into my predictions and best bets for this afternoon.

Yankees vs Twins Predictions & MLB Picks Today (5/16)
The Yankees have continued to cement themselves as one of the MLB’s best teams following Wednesday’s victory. Not only do they now hold a 2-0 series lead, but they also improved to 9-2 SU across their last 11 outings and are on the hunt for a fourth consecutive win this afternoon.
If the Twins want to avoid being swept, they must rediscover their offense. Minnesota has been outscored by eight runs through the series’ first two games, having registered just one run on 11 hits. What’s even worse is that the sole run was scored in the first inning of Tuesday’s tilt, meaning the Twins have now gone 17 straight innings without scoring.
Unfortunately for the home team, that trend is par for the course. After all, the Twins have lost five of their last seven matchups against the Yankees and even though they averaged 4.6 runs per game during that stretch, they were held to two or fewer runs in four of the five losses.
Additionally, the Yankees boast a 10-4 SU record in their last 14 road games against the Twins.
The Yankees have dominated the Twins more often than not throughout the last few years.
It might be hard for the Twins to score runs against Clarke Schmidt, who’s been phenomenal on the road. Through his first four road starts, the Yankees righty has gone 2-1 with a 1.99 ERA while racking up 23 strikeouts with 10 walks across 22 2/3 innings.
Meanwhile, the Twins are countering with none other than Joe Ryan. While the 27-year-old hurler has been solid throughout the campaign, he’s actually pitched worse at home than on the road, having gone 1-2 with a 4.63 ERA in four starts at Target Field.
Taking the above into account, I’m backing the Yankees to win today. New York has been the better team through the first two matchups and Ryan’s struggles at Target Field are concerning. With momentum firmly on their side, the Bronx Bombers will complete the sweep.
It’s also best to just back the Yankees on the moneyline, too. They clearly know how to win at Target Field, having outscored the Twins 21-7 in three straight road wins. You can’t go wrong with the plus-money here.

Best Yankees vs Twins MLB Player Prop (5/16)
You can’t go wrong with a few Yankees vs. Twins player props, including the Aaron Judge to record over 1.5 total bases (-103).
[su_icon icon="icon: check-circle" background="#F4F7FC" color="#2FBB9C" text_color="#1F2933" size="16" shape_size="4" radius="256" text_size="14" url="" margin="0"] $10 Cash Bonus with code "BNEWS" [/su_icon]

Judge has been on fire lately, racking up 38 total bases in his last 10 games (3.8 per contest). He finished with the Over on this prop in six of those games, including when finished last night’s game with a whopping 10 TBs. With 16 TBs in his last three road games against the Twins, I’d be shocked if the talented slugger doesn’t have another productive afternoon.
With Ryan struggling at home, look for Judge to feast.
