Pimblett Unanimously Favored in UFC 282 Co-Main Event
All four of the highlighted sportsbooks view Pimblett as the clear-cut winner for the UFC 282 co-main event. The 27-year-old’s shortest odds sit at -275 on BetMGM, carrying an implied probability of 73.3%.
Nevertheless, Pimblett has become one of the most popular fighters in the company. His honest attitude and personality are refreshing to say the least, however, he’s been more than capable of backing up his words in the octagon.
Pimblett is currently on a five-fight winning streak, having gone 3-0 to start his UFC career. He’s earned ‘Performer of the Night’ honors in all three fights, beating Luigi Vendramini by KO before forcing both Rodrigo Vargas and Jordan Leavitt to submit to his rear-naked choke. If he can continue that trend on Saturday, there’s no doubt that this would be the biggest victory in Pimblett’s career.
On the other hand, it’s important to remember that Gordon is no pushover. He might not have the same hype as Pimblett, but he is 4-1 in his last five fights, winning two of his three outings since returning to the lightweight division.
Unlike Pimblett, who goes for the kill, Gordon tends to try and outlast his opponents. Each of Gordon’s last six victories has come by decision, so it won’t be surprising if he tries to implement a similar strategy at UFC 282. After all, his average fight length is 11:47, whereas Pimblett’s is just 5:20.
Regardless, the two fighters’ opposing styles are what makes this co-main event as interesting as it is. Though the odds point in Pimblett’s direction, there’s no doubt that this should still be an entertaining matchup.
UFC 282 Betting Markets & Trends for Pimblett vs Gordon
As usual, there are several different betting markets for the upcoming Pimblett vs Gordon bout.
For example, Pimblett is favored to win this fight by submission at +230 odds, according to BetOnline Sportsbook. On top of his last two wins coming via submission, he’s made nine opponents submit over the course of his career. Fortunately for him, Gordon recently submitted for the first time to Grant Dawson back in April, so it’s possible that it could happen again.
Speaking of Gordon, his top method of victory is to win by decision at +460. Five of his last seven fights have gone the distance and he’s also 11-0 all-time when his fights are decided by decision. On the flip side, Pimblett has lost both of his fights that have headed to the judges’ table.
Unfortunately for Gordon, BetOnline doesn’t expect the fight to end in decision. The sportsbook favors that the fight won’t go the distance at -200 odds, so don’t expect a lengthy fight.
As far as method & round combo betting goes, Pimblett is favored to win by submission in Round 1 at +480 odds. Of his nine career submission victories, six have occurred in the first round. Having said that, Gordon’s only submission lost took place in Round 3.
Pimblett vs Gordon UFC 282 Fight Prediction
Both competitors are craving the taste of victory, but only one man can stand tall. Though I like what Gordon brings to the table, I’m going with Pimblett at UFC 282. “The Baddy” is on the run of a lifetime and I predict that his submission skills will be too much for his opponent to handle.
Furthermore, I’m going with Pimblett winning by submission at +230 as the best bet. Gordon has already proven that he’s susceptible to a submission loss while Pimblett has made each of his last two opponents submit. It’s only fitting that the Huyton, Merseyside native scores the biggest win of his career by submission.
