UFC Kansas City is less than a week away, set to air live from T-Mobile Center on Saturday, April 15. The main card is stacked with can’t-miss matchups, including the co-main event between Edson Barboza and Billy Quarantillo.
A victory this weekend would give either fighter a much-needed boost. After all, Barboza enters as the No. 14-ranked featherweight in the UFC, whereas Quarantillo hasn’t even cracked the rankings. With both sides struggling to maintain consistency lately, time will reveal who has what it takes to get the job done.

Barboza vs Quarantillo Fighter History
The odds are stacked against Barboza ahead of this Saturday night. Quarantillo is currently the favorite on each of the four highlighted sportsbooks, available anywhere between -175 and -190. The 34-year-old BJJ expert has an average of -181 odds across the sources, carrying an implied win probability of 64.4%.
The odds shouldn’t be surprising considering Barboza’s recent struggles. The former Ring of Combat Lightweight Champion is just 3-7 in his last 10 fights and has lost five of his most recent seven.
After struggling in the lightweight division, Barboza made the move to the featherweight side in May 2020, falling to Dan Ige by split decision. While he won his next two fights, things have fallen off since then.
Barboza suffered a third-round TKO loss to Giga Chikadze in the main event of UFC Vegas 35. Unfortunately, he couldn’t rebound from that loss when he face Bryce Mitchell about six months later, falling by unanimous decision in the three-round fight.
There’s no doubt that Barboza will have his hands full with his opponent. Quarantillo has been on an impressive run, going 6-2 during his UFC tenure.
The 34-year-old New Yorker began his company run with four consecutive victories, finishing three of those opponents (two by KO/TKO, one by submission. Much to his dismay, though, he’s struggled to maintain consistency since then.
After losing by unanimous decision to Gavin Tucker, Quarantillo responded by knocking out Gabriel Benitez in the ‘fight of the night’ at UFC Vegas 31. His momentum was cut short, unfortunately, as he lost unanimously by points to Shane Burgos in his next outing.
Having said that, Quarantillo has a pep in his step after tallying a TKO win over Alexander Hernandez at UFC 282. It was the first time that he earned the feat of ‘performance of the night’ in his career, making it interesting to see if he capitalizes on it at T-Mobile Center.
UFC Kansas City Betting Markets & Trends for Barboza vs Quarantillo
While there isn’t anything wrong with moneyline betting, some bettors prefer a variety of options. The good news is that sportsbooks like BetMGM offer several Barboza vs Quarantillo markets that provide some intriguing value.
For starters, BetMGM favors that the UFC Kansas City co-main event will end either by KO/TKO or points at +100 odds. This isn’t too much of a shock. Barboza is far from a grappling expert, having tapped out just one of his previous 33 opponents.
And while Quarantillo has five submission victories to his name, he hasn’t won in that manner since December 2019 — a streak of six straight fights.
If you’re looking to get more exact about a victor, Quarantillo is favored to win by KO/TKO or decision at +225 odds. Nevertheless, each of his last three victories has come by knockout, having not won by points in nearly three years.
If Quarantillo does finish Barboza, BetMGM predicts that it’ll by first-round knockout at +450. Of Quarantillo’s eight career knockouts, only two have come in the first round.
Barboza vs Quarantillo UFC Kansas City Fight Prediction
Barboza might have the experience edge, but I like Quarantillo winning in Kansas City this weekend. At the end of the day, Barboza has been getting beaten up a lot lately and that’ll continue against an opponent who averages 7.88 significant strikes per minute with 58% accuracy. Quarantillo also has more momentum on his side and will be driven to win in order to crack the featherweight rankings.
For the best bet, I’m going with Quarantillo by KO/TKO at +225 odds on BetMGM. Barboza has been knocked out four times over his UFC tenure with three of those instances coming in his last nine fights. With how Quarantillo’s last three wins have come by KO/TKO and his persistent barrage of strikes, there’s a good chance that he finishes Barboza this Saturday.
