UFC on ABC 4 Preliminary Card, Prediction and Best Bets: Where’s the Best Early Value?

MMMA enthusiasts are gearing up for another exciting weekend as UFC on ABC 4 takes over Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday, May 13. Although most of the attention is on the main card and headlining act, there’s sure to be something for everyone on the preliminary card as well.

Fortunately, Betting News has gathered the latest odds for all of UFC 288’s preliminary and early prelims fights, along with our prediction for each matchup.

UFC on ABC 4 Preliminary Card & Odds (Odds as of Thursday, May 11)

The UFC on ABC 4 odds listed below are via BetOnline Sportsbook.

Welterweight: Matt Brown (+180) vs. Court McGee (-235)

Matt Brown (23-19) has struggled to find any consistency over the last few years, dropping to 4-8 in his last 12 fights following a split-decision loss to Bryan Barberena last March. On the flip side, Court McGee (21-11) has also lost seven of his past 11 outings and was most recently knocked out by Jeremiah Wells 11 months ago.

In a battle between two desperate fighters, I’m siding with McGee. Before his latest loss, he had won back-to-back fights over Claudio Silva and Ramiz Brahimaj, whereas Brown hasn’t won consecutive fights in nearly four years.

Nevertheless, I’m not a huge fan of this fight from a betting perspective due to the fighters’ respective slumps. Instead, I’ll take a neutral approach as I can see the fight going the distance, regardless of the victor.

Best Bet: Fight to Go the Distance (-152)

Heavyweight: Karl Williams (-430) vs. Chase Sherman (+300)

The hard-hitting Karl Williams (8-1) hopes to extend his winning streak to six consecutive fights this weekend. He’ll look to take advantage of Chase Sherman (16-11), who’s lost five times in his previous six matchups.

With Sherman having been finished six times in his career, I like Williams’ chances of success in Charlotte. On top of having three knockout victories to his name, Williams also has the superior grappling skills, averaging 5.50 takedowns per 15 minutes with 68% accuracy.

Considering how Sherman has been submitted twice in his past four outings, I see Williams winning this one by either KO/TKO or submission.

Best Bet: Karl Williams to Win by KO/TKO or Submission (-115)

Bantamweight: Cody Stamann (-166) vs. Douglas Silva de Andrade (+130)

After back-to-back losses to begin his bantamweight return, Cody Stamann (21-5-1) has momentum on his side following two straight wins over Eddie Wineland and Luan Lacerda. In order to continue that run at UFC on ABC 4, Stamann must defeat Douglas Silva de Andrade (28-5, 1NC), who’s coming off a unanimous decision loss to Said Nurmagomedov.

Stamann certainly has the striking advantage here, averaging more significant strikes per minute while absorbing fewer than Silva de Andrade. Furthermore, Stamann is also the superior grappler and those skills will come in handy seeing as how Silva de Andrade seems to get taken down every fight.

I don’t anticipate a finish, though, so take Stamann to win by points.

Best Bet: Cody Stamann to Win by Points (+105)

Lightweight: Natan Levy (-265) vs. Pete Rodriguez (+200)

Natan Levy (8-1) has bounced back from his first-ever MMA loss with a couple of unanimous decision wins over Mike Breeden and Genaro Valdez. Adding another win to his record won’t be easy, though, as Pete Rodriguez (5-1) is a solid fighter with five knockout wins to his name.

While both fighters are promising, Levy is the better all-around competitor, having Rodriguez beat as far as mat skills go. I can see Levy ending this fight quickly if he catches his opponent in a submission hold. He also has a good shot at his first career knockout win seeing as how Rodriguez’s lone loss came when he was KO’d at UFC 270.

Best Bet: Natan Levy to Win by KO/TKO or Submission (-110)

Women’s Flyweight: Ji Yeon Kim (-210) vs. Mandy Bohm (+162)

Ji Yeon Kim (9-6-2) has done nothing but eat losses as of late, losing four consecutive fights ahead of UFC on ABC 4. Fortunately for her, Mandy Bohm (7-2, 1NC) is also in a vulnerable spot, losing two straight fights by unanimous decision to begin her UFC career.

Although Kim has won three fights at the UFC level, she hasn’t done so since October 2019. Bohm is hungry to make a mark and has a great opportunity to capitalize on an opponent whose best days are likely behind her.

At the end of the day, I’d stick away from this fight if possible, however, I’m comfortable with taking Bohm by points.

Best Bet: Mandy Bohm to Win by Points (+240)

Welterweight: Bryan Battle (+112) vs. Gabriel Green (-138)

Bryan Battle’s (8-2) seven-fight winning streak came to an end with a unanimous decision loss to Rinat Fakhretdinov at UFC Vegas 66. He looks to get back into the win column when he takes on Gabriel Green (11-4), who lost to Ian Garry by points back in July.

Although Green is favored, the fact that he absorbs 6.92 significant strikes per minute leaves me concerned. Battle absorbs nearly three fewer per minute and is also more accurate with the strikes that he dishes out (54% vs. 45%).

In a fight that I could see going either way, I’m taking Battle to pull off the upset outright. It also helps that he’s finished six of his previous eight opponents.

Best Bet: Bryan Battle to Win Outright (+112)

Women’s Bantamweight: Jessica-Rose Clark (-105) vs. Tainara Lisboa (-115)

After getting off to a 2-0 start to her UFC career, Jessica-Rose Clark (11-8, 1NC) went 2-4 in her subsequent six fights and has been submitted in her two most recent bouts. Tainara Lisboa (5-2), on the other hand, is ready to make her company debut. She’s on a three-fight winning streak, winning two of those fights by TKO and the third by submission.

While Clark has more UFC experience, I’m taking Lisboa to win at UFC on ABC 4. The Brazilian fighter has picked up all of her wins by some form of finish, even submitted two of those foes. With Clark failing to make it out of Round 1 in her last two fights, I see Lisboa beginning the newest chapter of her career with a submission win.

Best Bet: Tainara Lisboa to Win by Submission (+700)
