UFC on ABC 5 Main Card and Odds (Odds as of Monday, June 19)
UFC on ABC 5 Main Event: Josh Emmett (+250) vs. Ilia Topuria (-340)
Saturday afternoon will be headlined by a huge featherweight showdown between Josh Emmett (18-3) and Ilia Topuria (13-0).
Emmett heads to Jacksonville hoping to dust himself off after an unsuccessful bid to capture to interim featherweight title. The 38-year-old veteran couldn’t get the job done against Yair Rodriguez, losing by submission in the second round at UFC 284.
Nevertheless, Emmett has yet to lose two straight fights in his career and was on a fight-matchup winning streak before falling to Rodriguez.
Despite Emmett’s impressive resumé, he’s still the major underdog against the undefeated Topuria. The 26-year-old Georgian has yet to be bested in his career, having racked up a perfect 13-0 record. He’s shown zero struggles when it comes to transitioning into the UFC, going 5-0 thus far.
What’s even more impressive is that Topuria has finished his last four opponents, winning three straight outings by knockout before submitting Bryce Mitchell back in December. He’s yet to challenge for gold in the UFC, however, that could change soon if he emerges victorious Saturday afternoon.
UFC on ABC 5 Co-Main Event: Amanda Ribas (-180) vs. Maycee Barber (+140)
Maycee Barber (12-2) guns for her fifth consecutive win when she takes on Amanda Ribas (12-3) in a women’s flyweight showdown at UFC on ABC 5.
Barber has gone the distance to win each of her last four outings, winning twice unanimously and two times via split decision. She’s defeated some decent names over this run, including Miranda Maverick and former UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship challenger Jessica Eye.
Meanwhile, Ribas bounced back from a loss in her flyweight return by scoring a unanimous decision win over Viviane Araujo. Ribas is now 7-2 in her last nine fights but hasn’t won consecutive bouts since 2020.
Middleweight: Cody Brundage (-188) vs. Sedriques Dumas (+146)
Sedriques Dumas (7-1) looks to prove himself when he takes on Cody Brundage (8-4) in a middleweight clash.
After tallying seven straight wins to begin his professional MMA career, Dumas was finally knocked down a peg with a submission loss to Josh Fremd in the former’s Fight Night debut. Dumas is a tough fighter, but it’s up to him to show that he can bounce back from adversity.
Brundage is in dire need of a win, too. The former LOC Light Heavyweight Champion has been finished in back-to-back fights, losing to Michał Oleksiejczuk by KO before being submitted by Rodolfo Vieira less than two months ago.
Featherweight: David Onama (+190) vs. Gabriel Santos (-250)
Two more fighters looking to prove their worth this weekend are featherweights David Onama (10-2) and Gabriel Santos (10-1).
Onama’s UFC tenure has been mixed, to say the least. He won two fights in a row (one by KO, one by submission) after dropping his debut, but is now coming off a majority decision loss to Nate Landwehr nearly 10 months ago.
Santos, on the other hand, lost his highly anticipated debut to Lerone Murphy at UFC 286, falling via split decision. He racked up seven finishes in 10 fights before that loss, though, leaving time to tell if he has what it takes to turn things around.
Middleweight: Brendan Allen (-188) vs. Bruno Silva (+146)
The UFC on ABC 5 main card also features Brendan Allen (21-5) going head-to-head with Bruno Silva (23-8) in another middleweight matchup.
Allen is the clear-cut favorite here after winning four straight fights. He’s picked up back-to-back submission victories over Krzysztof Jotko and Andre Muniz, earning ‘performance of the night’ honors in both outings.
Standing opposite Allen is Silva, who has a pep in his step following his TKO win over Brad Tavares back in April. The 33-year-old Brazilian hasn’t won consecutive bouts since he went 3-0 to begin his UFC career, making it interesting to see if he was what it takes to pull off the upset.
UFC on ABC 5 Preliminary Card Odds
Welterweight: Neil Magny (-162) vs. Philip Rowe (+126)
One of the standout fights on the UFC on ABC 5 preliminary card is the welterweight collision between Neil Magny (27-10) and Philip Rowe (10-3).
Magny has had consistency issues lately, dropping two of his last three fights by submission with the most recent example coming in a loss to Gilbert Burns at UFC 283. Although Magny is the favorite, Rowe is the one with momentum on his side, having rattled off three straight knockout victories ahead of this weekend’s action.
Flyweight: Zhalgas Zhumagulov (-192) vs. Joshua Van (+148)
Zhalgas Zhumagulov (14-8) hopes to put his losing ways in the rearview once his matchup with Joshua Van (7-1) concludes.
Zhumagulov is in the middle of the worst stretch of his MMA career, going 1-5 in his last six fights, which includes losses in each of the last three. Meanwhile, there’s excitement surrounding Van’s UFC debut after the Texan finished his last five opponents (three by KO/TKO, two by submission).
Heavyweight: Austen Lane (+144) vs. Justin Tafa (-186)
In what should be a hard-hitting heavyweight clash, Austen Lane (12-3) looks to put an end to Justin Tafa’s (6-3) winning streak.
Lane — an NFLer-turn-fighter — made some noise on Dana White’s Contender Series 2022, knocking out Richard Jacobi in one round. He now aims to keep the success coming against Tafa, who’s knocked out Harry Hunsucker and Parker Porter in his two most recent fights.
Welterweight: Randy Brown (-265) vs. Wellington Turman (+200)
There’s also welterweight action on the UFC on ABC 5 preliminary card as Randy Brown (16-5) steps into the octagon with Wellington Turnman (18-6).
Brown’s four-fight winning streak came to an end with a demoralizing first-round submission loss to Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 284. The good news for him is that Turman has also struggled to find success, dropping to 3-4 in his last seven fights with UFC 281’s unanimous decision loss to Andre Petroski.
Lightweight: Mateusz Rebecki (-156) vs. Loik Radzhabov (+122)
Mateusz Rebecki (17-1) has his eyes set on his 15th straight win when he takes on Loik Radzhabov (17-4-1) this weekend.
Rebecki has been as unstoppable as it gets, winning eight of his last 14 fights by knockout and another three by submission. Although Radzhabov is the underdog, it’s important to note that he was recently successful in his UFC debut, overcoming Esteban Ribovics by points three months ago.
Women’s Strawweight: Tabatha Ricci (-128) vs. Gillian Robertson (+100)
The UFC on ABC 5 preliminary card isn’t without a women’s bout as Tabatha Ricci (8-1) clashes with Gillian Robertson (12-7).
Ricci has gone on a 3-0 run since her return to the strawweight division, picking up a submission win over Jessica Penne in her latest fight. Robertson has turned things around with a 3-1 record in her last quarter of fights. She made her strawweight return in April, submitting Piera Rodriguez with an armbar.
Lightweight: Trevor Peek (-120) vs. Jose Mariscal (-106)
In what’s projected to be a close-fought fight, Trevor Peek (8-0, 1NC) looks to leave the debuting Jose Mariscal (13-6, 1NC) disappointed when all is said and done.
Peek brings an eight-fight winning streak to the table Saturday afternoon, having won each of those scraps by some form of knockout. Mariscal, on the other side, has knocked out each of his last three opponents ahead of his UFC premiere.
Featherweight: Jamall Emmers (-205) vs. Jack Jenkins (+185)
One fight that’s shaping up to be an interesting one is the featherweight meeting between Jamall Emmers (19-6) and Jack Jenkins (11-2).
Emmers has alternated between wins and losses in his latest UFC run, most recently overcoming Khusein Askhabov by unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 69. Meanwhile, Jenkins’ unanimous decision victory over Don Shainis at UFC 284 extended the Australian’s winning ways to eight fights in a row.
Flyweight: Tatsuro Taira (-295) vs. Kleydson Rodrigues (+220)
Oddsmakers heavily favor the undefeated Tatsuro Taira (13-0) in his flyweight fight against Kleydson Rodrigues (8-2).
Taira’s UFC run has gone off without a hitch, starting off 3-0 with his last two victories coming by submission against C.J. Vergara and Jesus Santos Aguilar. Winning against Rodrigues will be easier said than done considering that the 27-year-old veteran was victorious the last time he was in action, knocking out Shannon Ross at UFC 284.
